Why do you not see any discussions about OWS on /b/ anymore? Simple, because anybody of any substance is already out there on the street, doing something about it.

nope. its because the people starting the threads don't browse /b/ normally. they come from other websites like reddit and whyweprotest to spam us with advertisements. it happens EVERY time there is a real anonop going on.

the only people that allow their advertisements to effect them are newfriends that haven't seen a advertising raid before.

truth be told, /b/ hates anonymous.

I do agree with that....somewhat. Logistically you couldn't get all of the protestors to DC. A lot of those protesters have jobs like I do and have to hold on to those as they have families to feed. So it only makes sense that they should protest the corporations locally. I think the message is getting across to Washington all the same. But at least they are doing something. I suppose you are just comfortable with the way the system works. Im guessing you probably watch Fox news religiously and adore Bill O'Reilly since you have offered no real solution and backed that up with name calling. That's just a guess though.

I sympathize with the protesters on certain things ... but it disgusts me how NONE of their criticism is directed at Obama

many of the current protesters were the same people protesting the wars in the early 00s, and every slogan they screamed included a direct reference to GWB/Cheney being evil (which they were imo) ... now that their precious 'Obama' has been a complete let down for them, they are looking for someone ELSE to blame.

I too blame the banks for their part ... but Obama is the one fucking bailing them out with American tax dollars!! if it was a republican in the oval office doing exactly what Obama is doing today, they'd be calling for his head!!

The coordinators don't discourage attendees from littering or violating the rights of fellow attendees and nearby businesses. As succinctly as possible, tell me what the banks did that caused this.

I'll save you some time. In the last 50 years, it not only became acceptable, but the norm to take out massive loans. The idea behind being a lender is to make money on loans. The banks were plenty happy with making their money by charging ridiculous interest rates, because the public was retarded enough to pay them. Once the government stepped in and forced the banks to give out risky loans, it is completely acceptable on their part to do what they need to do to make a profit. The most infuriating thing to me is that people have totally forgotten about consumer responsibility. See: caviat emptor.

What's the difference between a financial institution that lends money and a loan shark? What makes you think that a major corporation is going to have a higher moral standard than a shark? The idea that it's totally normal to take out a 30 year loan is a new one, and it's fucking ludicrous.

The ONLY people that are responsible for this are the consumers and the politicians. You guys have no idea what you're fighting for.

You do realize that you can't have job creation (real job creation, not government handout jobs) without stable economic policies right?

Out of control spending, over-regulation and the accumulating debt is directly tied to the reluctance to risk money on job creation.

It certainly won't be the OWS retards who create jobs. They only know how to bitch, moan and shit.

OWS should be protesting the debt. The debt is why we don't have jobs. The reason we are in debt is because we spend too much. Cut spending, balance the budget, deregulate and get government out of the free market and you'll see the US prosper...hard times for a few years yes, but no worse than now. But that will actually be followed by a prospering economy.

first ... I explicitly pointed out I was NOT one of them, and in fact didn't even support them on account of their unwillingness to criticize all parties involved, and not just one

anyway, I agree with your assessment of the situation. the govt DID play a large role attempting to interfere the way they did, as did personal responsibility (or lack thereof) of the consumers who should have known better (though to be fair, the average customer isn't an economics expert, so I view the govt as more responsible for their contribution)

but the banks knew this would happen. they allowed the bubble to build up, all the while betting against homeowners so as to maximize their profits off the unnatural 'easy money' environment they and the govt had created, then took it all when everything went belly up, leaving the current crisis we are all in, from which they are virtually untouched from the bailouts

there is blame everywhere!! it was never my opinion that one entity should shoulder all of it. don't imply that I did

I hate it when people say its unorganized and without a goal.

They have clear goals and demands, most of the people know what this shit is about anyways and even more people are affected by it.

Just because you can't clash all the individual demands and goals into one catchy slogan doesn't mean they don't exist. It's because of those candy-assgots who want to turn this into a punk concert with teasing the police, hopping on the bandwagon and doing actually shit nothing, only standing around.

And the media knows how to portray something - from the worst viewpoint with the worst example possible. Same with bad burger restaurants - just because one restaurant out of 100 jizzes in your burger doesn't mean that every Burger joint is doing it.

And the morons who say "MAN THE FUCK UP AND GET A JOB" are even worse than the clueless morons who just hop on it for bandwagoning. They propably have a job AND a degree. Someone told me that in america its normal today to have an expensive and saught after degree, but you still get next to no job, because 200 other people with a similar or better degree are applying for the same shit job that doesnt even have anything to do with their degrees.

It's a sad situation and the lack of regulations and the motherfuckers who fingerbang the financial economy should be dealt with in some way or another. The same shit started exactly like this almost 100 years ago.

Bullshit. More Republitard talking points. Federal Debt has nothing to do with job creation. Jobs are created when demand for products and services increases. When the middle class is poor, demand decreases. Stimulus by federal government is the only thing that will put money back into the hands of the middle class, which will then stimulate demand and increase the number of jobs.

Deregulation, tax cuts and cutting federal spending will not create jobs.

Not this disorderly nonsense. I've met people who literally think this is a revolution against the USG (I've met so many "protesters" with so many different ideas that this "movement" clearly lacks any sort of organization).

If they decide to go home, stop protesting, gather, and create an orderly and legitimate organization with clear goals and an actual plan, I'd be less inclined to hate them.

They are not showing any brain activity. Protesting is what stupid people do when they don't want to put in effort.

You provide a much needed public service and are paid by the government (unless volunteer). However, a private company should be able to run itself (legally) in any manner it chooses. Pay its workers any fair wage. The beauty of capitalism is competition not only to produce better products at lower prices, but to employ the best workers. That raises wages on its own.

It's all on the people. Every mistake that the government makes is a direct result of the public making mistakes with their votes. As I said, the notion that it's normal to bury yourself in debt is fucking ridiculous. The people that are to blame are the past generations that allowed this way of thinking to exist. The general public not recognizing politicians' transparent pandering every step of the way is all the proof in the world that the majority of people are retarded. When people make mistakes, they spend endless amounts of calories rationalizing their horrible decision making.

While I blamed the past generations for the current situation, it does not exonerate our generation. It is our job to share ideas and come up with a real plan on how to take the country back.

This movement is not helping, it's hurting. The people that are protesting are delusional utopianistic libertards. It's not necessarily their fault. They were brought up with this juvenile sense of entitlement.

Well over 99% of Americans have no idea how fucked we are. Simply put, this nation CAN NOT exist in its current form. The deeper you look into our problems, the more you will realize that it is absolutely impossible for the country to survive another century.

Didn't realize that AIG and Goldman and the other big banks were unionized.

As for the auto industry, you can't blame all of its problems on the unions. Their product lines just weren't competitive with foreign auto makers. Also, it's doing very well since the bailouts and remarkably is still unionized.
