Seriously, I HATE anime. HATE it. But I love Cowboy Bebop. I gave anime a chance when I dated this weird weaboo chick when I was about 16 (I was popular, in a band, in good shape etc., so she was definitely out of my element.), and she introduced me to several titles. I can't stand about 90% of anime. Bebop is really engaging, great story line, great character development (shit was developed so well, you even get attached to Ein!), and very original animation (for the most part).
Other titles I like a lot:
Serial Experiments Lain
Haibane Renmei
Vampire Hunter D (kinda)

Cowboy Bebop, unless you are a fuckin lifeless nerd who dont know anything, then you might slightly enjoy Ghost in the Ass, but in the end you ll choose Cowboy Bebop.

Story-wise I prefer Ghost in the Shell. It's got pretty good music too but Cowboy Bebop's wayyyyy wayy better.

Ghost in the shell has less action, but it's more about the story line. I've never had anything else make me question the nature of humanity and the definition of the soul.

This show is NOT engaging. I must have seen at least 4 or 5 episodes thus far, and I still do not care to watch it again. The movie is also not that great. It was given to me. I hate it.

Nothing seems to grab me. Bebop had a certain artistic flair that really appealed to me. The music, the ambiance, the overall "feel" of the show just fit right in with me. I'm already a space buff, and their view (aside from the lack of extra-terrestrial species being more prevalent) really made sense to me, and coincided with my views on human progression.
