There's
a difference between "deciding" you are straight/gay, and your
sexuality being a fluid thing in life. I have several older friends
(some of which retired), who in their earlier years were for all intents
and purposes straight; got married, had kids, loved their wife and
children very much, and then as life went on, found themselves being
more and more attracted to the same sex.
Perhaps such feelings
were dormant, or perhaps they simply arose as they progressed in life;
who knows, but my problem lies with those who absolutely 100% insist
that our sexuality is concrete, we are born with it at birth, and that
it never changes; to me it is as though they simply want to dismiss all
conversation/debate on the matter, when in reality we are only now
grasping the fundamental basics of how our brain works in science, never
mind working toward an understanding of something so complex as our
sexuality. To me, saying "Little Timmy was born gay" is as stupid as
saying "Little Timmy was born a doctor". |
