Alright OP, here's what you need:

You need multiple specialized boards to attracted the older and more intellectual anons, the actual oldfags. Let's face it, the newer generation is filled with autistic morons who desperate crave attention more than a whore craves cock.

First, you need a /hist/ory board. Anons fucking love discussing the finer points of history, especially around WWII. Make sure to make it clear that it is a history board; not a /new/s or a /int/ernational board.

Second, an /econ/omics board. Basically the same as above, only for those who grasp the finer points of the handling of money.

While you're at it, make a /money/ board, for anons who like discussing money making, stocks, investment, etc. Any bullshit money making ideas, like that ridiculous blog adsense circles, or those shitty pyramid scheme things should be banned on sight.

Next, a /cons/piracy board. Yeah, I know, it's shit. But a few of the conspiracy guys have some brains and actually have good anti-government, anti-corporate stances that are respectable and valued.

Naturally, you need a board for technology, make a /g/ board. Try to keep the fights over which browser is the best down to a minimum. (By the way, it's clearly Opera. Chrome is a botnet and Internet Explorer is for retards)

And finally, a /shen/anigans board. This is for: "theoretical" discussions on crimes, revenge ideas, etc. Small time shit like "how does I hack Facebook" should be banned on sight for stupidity.

There are hundreds of imageoboards and more specifically chans (yes, they're different) so creating another one won't help. I currently on a development team making another script that will probably end up similar to Yotsuba but a lot more customisable and no horrible errors. You need good software, good moderators and good users for this to work and I doubt you'll get the first two right which means the final one won't follow.

As an oldfag, i would like to see a board entirely devoted to steve jobs and boxxy.

Most imageboard software is terrible, I've talked to moderators, administrators and chan owners who have used many different pieces of imageboard software and found many problems with all of them. Wait a few months and there'll be some delicious new software out - less bugs and a smarter look.

Never a good idea unless you know the users you're promoting very well. The moderators on /b/ were picked from the community and they are terrible. They don't stop any spam or cp but randomly ban people for their own whims.

Oh yeah, most imageboard software allows you to lift every post and image to a new version of even a completely different software. u18Chan recently changed from Yotsuba/Futaba (I forget which) to the old imageboard4free software and they managed to move across around 150 pages of threads with thousands of posts.

Moderators can see the IDs of every post. Users used to be able too using a script but then eval got banned because of some script kiddies I think.

7 Chan has the ID of every user (a series of random letters/numbers) by each post so you can detect samefags or OC gods.
