It's them. They've been organizing this attack since someone set up a DDoS on their site for talking about 4chan too much in their articles. They demanded that all articles mentioning 4chan be removed, or else consequences will never be the same. They, of course, didn't remove the article, so nearly 300 people in a tinychat fired LOIC at 12:00 (noon) EST a few days ago.

Gawker found out about it, and they posted articles mocking 4chan's pathetic excuse for a raid, because it was not successful.
