In all honesty, my favourite years were probably 2005-06 for Cracky-chan and the golden years of Anonymous before the scientology faggotry ruined everything. 4chan used to sort of be like a terminal for like-minded individuals, and now it is filled with such a mix of personalities that it's completely changed.

Nothing of value was lost in that gif because there was no blood. 4chan and in this case /b/ spread by word of mouth and by the free advertising from fox news.

1. /b/ is now for everyone who is bored of the niche imageboards of 4chan instead of bored anime otaku.
2. Vice versa the other imageboards 4chan offers, those imageboards still terminals for like-minded individuals. Obvious examples include /a/, /c/, /g/, /v/...

Old /b/ was smarter than the new /b/ but that's mainly because in the "old" days the internet wasn't prone to such extreme cases of idiocy. That's because when the internet was younger, only the better educated knew what the internet was capable of. In the beginning /b/ was hard to find and it was rare that someone outside the community heard about it. When the geeks lost control of /b/, a flaming spiral started to descend.

My internet adventure:

Early zeroes = loved sites like Engrish.com, somethingawful.com, fatchicksinpartyhats.com

Mid zeroes = started posting on ytmnd.com, made an account, made a handful of successful sites. got wind of 4chan.org just by word of mouth, didn't check it out for the longest time because it sounded like an anime site.

Late zeroes = YTMND started being lame as shit (Max made it so "nsfw" sites don't appear on the front page). Spent more and more time on 4chan. Discovered boards other than /b/, I now frequently post on /mu/, /r9k/, /tv/, and /v/. Started reading webcomics as well.

God, I feel old. I came here after discovering 7chan somehow in June of '07.
