What the fuck, how can you say that after one episode? Sure he did the chirpy, slightly arrogant thing right, but what about when the heavy shit kicks in, like when he gets asked about his home planet and all that bad shit he did? He could completely fuck it up, Tennant was the first Doctor who did that properly, bring the emotion into it.
So right now it's still: Tennant > Smith.

It doesn't matter how well Smith did in the first episode, he can't be said to be better than Tennant, Tennant was consistantly great for years. Smith can't be judged on one episode, and to whoever was saying the suspense bits were shit etc. that sounds like a writing problem not an acting one
