Few hours and first time in human history 7 TeV beams will collide in particle accelerator!

8.30 (Central European Time) webcast begins with live feed from CERN.
    http://webcast.cern.ch/lhcfirstphysics/

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator, builded in a tunnel 27 kilometres, 175 meters underground.

The Large Hadron Collider was built by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). It is built in collaboration with over 10,000 scientists and engineers and cost of 7 billion Euros (10 billion USD) makes it the most expensive scientific experiment in human history.

    1. Blackholes are made often and it is normal. They are fractions of a second long though.
    2. Science is science deal with it. Higgs Boson might just be discovered with the LHC. That would explain soooo much in the universe.

well if they are fractions of a second its cool but now we are talking about a construct that is 27km long man... it's not the average little experiment box.
im not a scientist but the odds are that if a black hole occurs it wont be that small.
and yes, scientist do take extremely retarded risks or choose to blind themselves of danger all for the sake of knowledge.
if they werent we wouldnt have a shitload of bad creations...

As a matter of fact the creation of a black hole is impossible because the Earth does not have enough gravitational power to allow such a scenario. People would not make a machine that could possibly destroy the whole earth in the name of science because that is a "Weapon of mass destruction", apparently, and I'm pretty positive world leaders aren't going to risk global annihilation just so they can see what the first moments of a formation of a galaxy look like.

    tl;dr
The LHC gives scientist a visual display of the first moments of the creation of the universe AKA a Big Bang. There will be no black holes. Sorry.

troll harder retard, the black holes created by the LHC will be SMALLER than a proton, will have a gravitational field that is WEAKER than a proton, and will evaporate in a few billionths of a second

it is impossible to make a black hole bigger than the matter you put into it (and it would have to last several months to get big enough to start consuming the earth at any noticeable rate)

    This is what we're discovering:

Since scientists agree that everything we know and teach about atoms and the universe is wrong (ie: standard model is wrong) they are smacking lead together at literally 99.9999997% the speed of light, powered by magnets cooled by liquid helium to be just a few degrees short of absolute zero to control the lead. When it smashes together, many new and cool things will exist for amounts of time that can only be measured by computers. From this data (stored in several data-banks across earth) we:

-Hope to find the Higg's Boson, which will explain why everything's wrong
-where the antimatter went (ie: why does matter exist)
-what were the first fractions-of-seconds of the big bang like (y'know, before most of the things we take for granted existed, like time and gravity and protons and stupidity)

-not a black hole. You know when you shave in the morning? Remember when the universe doesn't explode from you doing this? A black hole being created is just as likely as the universe blowing up when you shave.

they have been doing particle acceleration since before the creation of the atom bomb. They know exactly what they are doing. This is such a huge experiment because they are speeding up 2 particles to .999999999% of the speed of light (anything with mass cannot reach 100%, that means you antigravity ravioli dude).

They were afraid at first because of the immense gravity being created after the first few seconds of collision. This will knowingly create 3 or 4 mini black holes...

BUT after studying, they realized that these black holes are so tiny that the radiation emitted from them would cause the black holes to instantly evaporate. Even before these studies, the chance of a black hole catching and expanding was like 1 in 99129491240124102 or something crazy. but all you dumbfags still say "well there still is a chance".

    NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN...

    Higher Velocities => Higher Energy

They are trying to recreate some of the conditions in the first moments surrounding the Big Bang I believe. This is the first particle accelerator that has had the capability to perform these experiments.

what are you? fucking 13 years old?

they're trying tosolve the basic model or w.e, basically the universe before the big bang was pure energy, then it destabilized and exploded and the great forces made strings which made quarks which made electrons and neutrons etc etc.

they're trying to find out the forces behind matter itself, mainly in this case, the theoritical field, the higgs boson, which dicatates mass.

think about what we could do if we find out how matter is assigned mass...

    Higher velocity = higher ennergy

They're trying to recreate conditions as they existed a few nanoseconds after Big Bang, to reach the energy density of that time, they need such velocities.

Also those exotic particles they're looking for (Higgs boson etc.) need arund 9001 metric fucktons of energy to break loose from eachother.

faster the collision speed the more the particle breaks down. In like 1980 or something they discovered the boson particle, which was smaller then an electron.

They are pumpin up the speed 10 fold to try to discover what was dubbed the "Higg Boson" which in theory pops in and out of existence.

Also called "the god particle". Upon discovery, this could pretty much point us in the right direction of universal creation, and could possible prove or disprove big bang theory.

and you know what that means....one more step closer to shutting up religiousfags.

if you want to find out what something is ultimately made of, you need to smash it as hard as you can to get the smallest possible (observable) object.
