Hello /b/i just bought The Prince by Niccolò Machiavelli has /b/ read it?! what does /b/ think about it?
It's a good read if you are going to really study it... not a casual read. But good. I would argue against some of his points today but I can ee how nearly all of them, are perfect for the time it was written. If you like it read Sun Tsu's The Art ofWar
>>206045378took words outta my mouth
do you see what I see????
>>206045378agreedThe Art of War
>>206045378i got the art of war too, and also the republic
Go to /lit faggot.
does /b/ want to be loved or does /b/ want to be feared?
>>9873072parkerboiiuk@googlemail.com (MSN!!!) He is the source of this spam.
>>206046396Havent read the republic. Its on the list though. Been on a ;light kick lately... just finished Hearts in Atlantis by King... halfway through The Chrysalids by Wyndham.
>>206045378All of his points can be easily related to modern-day issues, you just need to think about them and modify the situations a little."The Prince" is more modern than Sun-Tzu's (pronounced Soonzee) "The Art Of War", but both are perfect bases for any form of conquest."The Art Of War" is a little harder to relate, though easier to memorise due to its verse-form, and will teach you how to win."The Prince" comes from the dawn of modern civilisation, and will teach you how to keep winning.
i think you should have saved your money and just google'd a free copy.
>>206047182Really the only point I have issue with is a good leader being feared instead of loved... But I have decided that if I were a leader I would lead with an iron fist.
>>206047550i know i could have, but it was really cheap like $3 and i'd much rather read it off the book than a screen
was pretty good
>>206047596That was his ultimate conclusion, but he knew some societies were come to love their leaders and practice Napoleonic worshiping of him or whatever.
truf
>>206047596Lol that's about the most easily understood of his rules.Believing that you could have total control without fear is just foolish.Dracula managed to maintain control of his province, with a crime-rate of 0 by being feared.People loved him after he died, and the bandits came back.
>>206048368just for the record, this is the most intelligent and coherent discussion I have seen on /b/. And thats with over 9000 years of lurking under my belt.
>>206048998True. But I mean look at the old Queens of England... Average citizens would throw themselves in danger for the Queen, because they LOVED her.
>>206049053Lulz.The closest I've seen before this was a discussion of waifu on /a/ which turned into a discussion of AI and what will become of the world once we have advanced robotics.
The prince is the ultimate guide to conquest. Learn it lest others use it on you.
>>206049583I need to LURK MOAR.I don't know what a Waifu is.
>>206049456Lol yeah, but try to tell them to do something they didn't want to do."Stop thieving, for the Queen!"They might feel a little guilty, but they wouldn't stop. It's in our nature to continue with an action that benefits us so long as there is no downside.
>>206049950Lol you don't hear about waifu much on /b/.It's Engrish for "wife".Lol it's basically the anime/manga character you would want as your wife.
>>206045378This guy doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.Machiavelli's core principle in terms of communication was transparency. If you can't speed-read this book and extract every last drop of wisdom, you're either a retard or an altruist. Actually, that pretty much falls collectively under retard.Sun Tsu's Art of War is neither profound not particularily intersting. It's the kind of book you want to tell girls you've read if you're trying to be the edgy intellectual type (this will not get you laid, however). Instead of reading it, consider searching for Sun Tsu quotes. That way, at least you're only reading the good ones.I would read the Prince for rudimentary education, then carry on to Freud, for the giggles. I shit you not, Freud is fucking hilarious.
>>206050174I agree, and unfortunately have to leave now. Real life getting in the way of /b/ again. Anyways, thanks for the intelligent conversation!!!!!! Now go fuck your mother!
