  • Since I've been on a Q&A kick in /a/ and /r9k/ recently, I've decided to set up a formspring account for publicly answering 4chan related questions. You'll find it linked in the navbar as "?", and located here: formspring.me/4chan. Also, if you use Twitter, please follow @4chan. As always, I can be contacted via e-mail at moot@4chan.org (Despite the common misconception, I check it frequently and read every message I receive. Nobody seems to e-mail me about anything other than being banned though ;_;)

I see these commercials all the time. What does /b/ think? Are these stories and youtube vids people post lies and full of deceit or deceitful and full of lies?

ITT: post if you have actually done it and saw results or tried it and still a lazy fat fuck

All exercise equipment is a lie. Eat less and do more is the only way. Exercise equipment will always cost more than it's worth, remain unused, clutter up your house, until you finally dispose of it when it will go on polluting the environment.
    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)10:11:59 No.201836XXX
Haha I just figured I'd ask if all this muscle confusion is extreme bullshit orrrrr semi-bullshit that is still a lie. But I do agree with you

it works if you're actually willing to do it... but they aren't lying when they say you need to be in shape before atttempting.

i tried it after a 2 year break from any kind of exercise and i had to stop the first video after 20 minutes (there was like a 10 minute warm-up).

my co-worker does some of the videos as part of his routine, arms, shoulders, back, and abs. It looks like its working out for him, i'm not gay but he looks good.

I do the CardioX segment everyday in addition to doing muscle workouts at the gym. It's a great fat burning workout and if you do it daily, you'll most likely notice results within a week. It's tough at first but if you push yourself it's much easier after the first few days, but it's still a good workout. CardioX is about 45 minutes of exercises consisting of Yoga, Kenpo, Plyometrics, and core workouts.

    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)10:15:22 No.201836XXX
it's good, but it's not for beginners. it's a lot of isometrics and muscle isolation training. it has been part of my routine for a couple years now.

tldr: it'll smoke your ass in the first 10 minutes

One of the greatest exercise programs available, but like another said, not for beginners. I'm starting my 3rd round on Monday. If you choose to do it, make sure you eat well to get truly awesome results.

Muscle confusion is real, they teach in as part of a training methodology in Personal Trainer courses and Health Medicine -

    >>201836170
This /b/rother has it right. - Exercise equipment usually ends up as clutter - unless you have a dedicated space and you plan on using it everyday (just 20 minutes), eat less, and burn more calories - you'll never get results

I have p90x and I use the workout according to the schedule they give - works great, but you have to stay with the program and eat what they recommend.

(the people you see in the commercial were already in that physical state prior to the taping - so you'll only end up looking better in the way that your body is genetically built - skinny fags will be muscle built but skinny - fat fags will be strong and have less fat, - muscle fags will be muscle fags.)

i get that... but i'm not lying to myself. I'm just not a homophobe and can admit when a man looks good. You on the other hand probably think that if you say 'thats not a bad looking guy' that a million dicks will start ramming your ass cause you're all of a sudden a faggot.

I'm doing one video a few days a week at my school and it's tough shit. If you want to get into shape, this is one of the best methods, you gotta be commited though.
    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)10:19:32 No.201837XXX
I've done all the way through phase two on two seperate occassions, and I'm two weeks into phase one with a coworker. With the motivation of having someone else around I should be able to get through the 90 days.

I should mention we only do the muscle building exercises i.e. Chest + back, Arms + shoulders, Legs + back, Back + Biceps, and Triceps, chest and Shoulders.

P90x works because it works you hard. At the end of each 2 month stint that I put in I had noticeable improvement, enough to the point where I had to kinda laugh at myself in the mirror.

A married couple that are friends of mine keep talking about how they can't wait to start. They are both pretty out of shape. Me and my fiance keep telling them that they'll regret it, it'll just demoralize them and make them hate exercise completely. Their response is that exercise always sucks, this'll get the fastest results. And it will get you awesome results... if you can even complete the routines.

This is way to exhausting to do 90 days straight. Apart from the hour+ a day commitment, your muscles will be jello by week 2 and 80% of you fat fucks will quit. I've tried it 3 seperate times and if you miss a single day your motivation is pretty much crushed. Way to much commitment to be an option for a daily work out.
    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)10:30:30 No.201838XXX
    >>201838290

I don't think so dude, each time I've done it I've skipped the plyometrics, yoga, and kenpo, and just stuck with the actual muscle building routines. This means by necessity I was missing days, but I still got some pretty good results. If you set realistic goals this program does the job. Just do what you can, and skip to the next exercise. That's what I do every time I put in the dvd (I copied this shit btw, it's a good program, but pirate it unless you like paying $150 for something easily torrented).
    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)10:30:43 No.201838XXX
    >>201838234

ah ok, I thought that's what you meant. I've been thinking of doing abs again. I mean I used to do 400-500 situps a day. Yet I just thought I'd ask about this P90x stuff i constantly see on tv
    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)10:31:46 No.201838XXX
I got P90X for Christmas a few years ago, I have only did the workouts a few times. I regularly lift weights and run which I enjoy much more, but from doing the workouts a few times if you stick to it and eat right yes it will work.
    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)10:32:19 No.201838XXX
works 100%. you have to be committed though, just like any workout. also sticking to the diet is a big part(granted if you eat right it doesnt matter anyways, but if you don't eat right already you MUST do the diet if you expec to see results) The workouts are intense, and they don't forgive. They say if you can't do it all, just do it until you can't, and that's what matters. Don't try to keep up if you're not able to finish the exercises, just do what you can. Eventually you'll get to that point, but start small. It's a LARGE committment just like any other program.
    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)10:32:20 No.201838XXX
    >>201838725

I should mention that my coworker and I don't seem to get too much out of the ab routine of P90x. If you do it from start to finish you supposedly do over 300 some odd core/ab exercises, but I think one would do better to pick a few simple ab exercises they find work for them and stick with that. Form of quantity, in other words.
    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)10:37:15 No.201839XXX
One of my dormmates actually uses the P9OX training video.
    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)10:39:22 No.201839XXX
    I appreciate it guys(gals?)

I might try to find some of the exercises on the webz however judging by what a lot of you said, it is a huge commitment. Perhaps too much for my taste so I'll just do it moderately if I do go through with it. Also have any of you actually gotten insanely ripped like the people on tv?
    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)10:43:28 No.201840XXX
    >>201838960 here
    yes you will get ripped
but it is a committment, just like any workout.
just try to do it, if you can't finish all the exercises, don't worry. Eat what they tell you, and do what you can, there's always more time. It's 90 days..which seems like not so much, but that's 3 months. After your first cycle you will be able to do it all without worrying about it. which is only half a year. it's a great workout that really produces results, and even people(like myself) who have worked out for years prior are surprised at the strain it puts on you. it's wonderful.
