02/22/10(Mon)11:52:53 No.200303XXXWell,
to be fair, not every day can be a party. I think 2000-2009 had its
place, it just wasn't the radical social climate previously. In fact, I
would argue it's the downcycle that gears up for that to happen.
The
Naughts, what did we have? Terrorism became the buzzword, social
networks started really taking off, the financial markets took a plunge,
file sharing started being gone after legally and hard, and we started
asking tough questions of our elected officals. I would argue that you
have a climate where people have access more than ever to technologies
that enable free transfer of information and we've started challenging
the authoritative voices telling us to buy this, fear that, and follow
the lead. This is a quick thought, but it seems the general theme to me.
We're
gearing up for a social change. The Tea Party people have the idea,
just a insipid poorly thought version of it, led by the piper. The
reactionary wave to them will be the thing that causes real social
change, the people who stand up and retaliate against the astroturf
taking the last thing the people have, the right to rebel. |
