It's not a matter of rejection, I had planned on getting a teaching degree in art from the get go, its the most secure job in the entire art field and teachers actually make quite a bit more than you think they do. There's really no merit in commercial or freelance art and since I'd like to have a liveable income I much prefer teaching. Plus I enjoy helping others in their art more than I do my own.

Very good! From my experience, the art teachers are usually the only good ones.It wasn't until my high school art class that I started thinking about things the way I do, so I owe a lot to my high school art teacher.

I must say, though most people still find art to be useless, art teachers can probably have the strongest affect on a student. I still consider the option of becoming one myself... which leads me to my next question: Is it tough work? Do you get much free time to work on your own projects and continue your own study?
