I've had the same mac since 2004. It's never crashed. I've never had a virus, and it regularly multitasks playing music, watching a movie, and edits multiple graphics films in excess of a Gig in size.

It's a quad core, and I sure as hell didn't pay $7,300 for it. With the dual 20in monitors, it ran around $3500 new.

True...I got given a new Mac Pro at work, 8-core, with 14GB RAM, I still have extra slots for new graphics cards, hard drives, even more RAM, but I don't even think I need to do that. It starts up in seconds, shuts down in seconds. Doesn't crash...I work on 3-4GB PSD files and it copes fine...whilst running numerous apps in the background.

I have a mac mini ('06, 80gb, 3 gb RAM, combo drive, 24 inch lg moniter) running snow leopard and a Asus eee ('09, 160gb, 2 gb RAM) running Windows 7. I've seen /g/'s guides, I've customized my PC back home, I've done it all. Yet I still bought a macbook pro, and I love it. When I'm busy with schoolwork, tired and pissed off, it's nice to boot my mac and have everything in a easy to do fashion. Sometimes in my life all I need is some simplicity to help me relax, and aesthetic quality to make me smile. If I don't have enough ram, I can open it up and replace it myself. If a new video card is on the market, I can replace it myself. I don't have to take it to a repair center for fixing.

I love to play games. Contrary to what most macfags believe, I have a girlfriend, a good income and i'm in uni. Not everyone who plays games is a virgin

I started buying Macs once the trackpad gestures became available. PC makers have tried to make a trackpad as powerful as the Apple trackpad, but I have tried them and they are all ghetto.

They really are like high-end cars compared to shit cars like Chrysler 300's (fake Bentleys). YES they use the same CPU manufacturer, same NVIDIA or ATI graphics, all that shit. The two 24 inch displays are the best on the market, they cost around 1000 bucks each everything that is in the 7300$ configuration is twice as good (at the very least) than the peripherals in the pc config.

Mac can become a "PC" aka, it can run windows on it using bootcamp. I've had my macbook pro for 2 years and there has been no decrease in performance whatsoever and haven't had one complaint about it. Completely worth the 1,700.

Its like a guitar maker told me once: no guitar maker is going to give anything away. Computer makers are no different.

Real guitarists don't use cheap guitars and then think the pickups, effects pedals, amp and strings they use are going to make up for it. They just buy the best, like PRS guitars.
