Senior in High school fag here that plans to be a pre med student next fall with several questions

1: What's your major?
2: Do you have time for a social life or is it all studying to pass classes?
3: Do you know what kind of doctor you want to be, and if so, what made you come to that decision?

I wanna become a nurse. Im a guy, and a larger dude who can carry anyone. What kinda grades do i need to keep, as im in freshmen year of college, and am working part time. Any advice, suggestions. I would like to become a NP one day too.

3: Do you know what kind of doctor you want to be, and if so, what made you come to that decision? -not yet, have considered pediatrics but that decision isnt really necessary until like second year med.

why do you want to be a doctor?

i considered it for a while, it seems a lot like being a people engineer, but i don't want to deal with all of those emotional shenanigans and whatnot. my bedside manner would be terrible

Even in nusing the grades gotta stay up. Nothing below a C. C- I'd say is unacceptable. and if completely necessary, a W on a transcrpit is better than an F. Its totally doable with the job too. tougher, but if its what you really wanna do you should be fine.

i tutor for the chemistry dept at my university.
we get a ton of kids that come in saying they're pre-med, but they're basically high-functioning retards (i have high standards, so i might be exaggerating, but only slightly)
there was a group of them that, after 3 hours, couldn't understand how to calculate concentrations of dilute solutions, which isn't really even chemistry, and is one of the most basic concept i can think of.

tl;dr
If I needed surgery, I'd rather do it myself with a rusty spoon than let some of these "pre-med" kids touch me (post-education)

>>195203675. why? I love science so i've always known my degree would be chem or bio. through the years my affinity for science centered around biology. I have found that learning the body and how it works, why its stops, how to help is very interesting with me. im not gonna say im trying to make a big diff and save the world cause im not lol. i think helping people will be cool. but really its what ill be doing that i feel ill love. also im figity. i always need something to be doing so i feel ill be able to handle the long hours and hectic life.

i also wouldnt let pre-med students operate on me. it says PRE in the title. we're still getting degrees and finding school to learn medicine and dont really know shit yet. the fuck duh. i'd be skeptical with early med students.

nothing really makes me too much. the horrific car accident stuff weirds me out but i feel i could do it if i go surgery of hosipital route. an in the moment type desensitisation. my roomie says he is weirded out my his hands being in someone so has sworn of surgery. but i still think its an option.

what. who said crap about your post ed? and dumb pre-meds do show up. the get weeded out. trust me. my organic chem class has lost like 20 students since the fall. thats what college and post college (aka education) does. weeds out the unintelligent.

i have friends in med school right now who really aren't that smart, they just work hard

when i helped them with homework in undergrad, they never really seemed to understand what they were doing, they just memorized little tricks to solve the problems.

I think this is true in pretty much any field, but it's scariest to see it in pre-med/med school

I've seen less of it at the graduate level (in Chem E at least) but kids I graduated with who are going to be running chemical plants and refineries have no fucking idea what they're doing. This makes stupid engineers almost as scary as stupid doctors.
