Serial killer thread. I'm mainly looking for info on forensics. Anything pertaining to blood samples, dna samples, fibers from clothing and how it can be traced back to you, etc etc.

A simple question to start off: When i watch t.v. shows they say that someone with no criminal background wont have their dna in the system. is this true? Also, when is your dna put into the system?

This thread is purely informational, and i am in no way condoning killing, nor am i hinting that i'm going to kill.

Don't know about where you are but over here, DNA is taken with fingerprints if a criminial record is brought on you for a serious crime, otherwise unless you've volunteered to put your DNA forwards (to be easily eliminated from investigations) then you're details wont be on there, certain UN states want to be able to take DNA at birth but this is unlikely to happen in this lifetime, in my opinion, human rights (privacy) and that.

You need to not believe everything you see in the movies.

    All cells contain DNA
Sex cells (gametes), the hair follicle may contain traces if it's on the hair, the saliva, excrement etc...

Ammonia can damage blood samples, but piss can contain DNA samples.... so???!???!?!!!!???

DNA is almost always put into the system when you have any sort of sexual crime: ie rape, child pornography, etc.

1)) Ammonia actually makes the blood samples left over at the scene useless for analysis. This is one thing from the boondock saints that wasn't fiction. Apparently straight chlorine does the same thing.
2)) Tracks from shoes, fingerprints, your own blood left over at the scene, skin particles under your victim's/s' nails... It will ALL be tested.
Your best bet is to kill on one place, make sure it's a clean kill, and dump the body somewhere else. If you can't make a clean kill, clean the body in a bathtub full of chlorine. Cut/Rip off fingernails and flush down your toilet if you don't have a septic tank.

Your DNA is taken at birth as of 1992.

Formerly, small samples of your tissue deemed harmless to the infant were taken, and records of those have been kept since the mid 1900s.

Chances are, if you are alive, your DNA is on record.

they can and will test your drains, toilet, sink for blood / dna/ etc. i suppose the cholorine would prevent that.. but you leave far more evidence the minute you touch a body.

if you want to kill someone and not get caught?
pick someone at random from a phone book. make a zipgun. Shoot them from a decent distance. leave body and weapon at scene. throw the latex gloves you should have been wearing in a medical waste bin.

Flushing a body with regular water with wash away all DNA that's "on" the body yes? Will the DNA be gone or will it just be moved into the dirt or wherever the body is?

Hypothetically speaking, if you shaved off all body hair (if male), wore generic latex gloves and really common clothes AND SHOES (brand new! Both Wal-Mart or alike) Also! Use clothing that is difficult to cut/stab such as leather, tough denim, etc. Use an inconspicuous vehicle (generic old 2 door pickup, mid 90s sedan, etc), and the victim had no ties to you (different city/state) as well as would have little if no family or people of consequence left. Have no witnesses, cameras. Somewhere in a rural yet tight-knit community. The day also matters. The longer they go without being noticed, the less evidence there is, so if it's rural and religious, Sunday night would be best. This is all Hypothetically ofcourse. And I also, in no way condone violence of any sort. It's just my little workup of how it'd happen. That's just me tho.

you misunderstood what i meant when i said trace. two examples... a latex glove can be turned inside out, and either DNA acquired, or rarely.. fingerprints taken from the INSIDE of the gloves. its difficult, but possible.

second. if the latex glove they know was at the scene has an imperfection ( this is very common) and they search your house, and find latex gloves with the same imperfection?.. this is very bad. This has actually been done. Most gloves are made and sold as batches.

Also, if you keep them in the trunk, they can find evidence in that, as well as anything you left on the body when you dumped it. Id suggest a large piece of plastic or a garbage bag for transport. And the woods arent exactly a way to keep a body " unfound"
