the man has the same speed of the bus, but as he jumps up, his speed will decrease a tiny bit, so he will land really slightly closer to the end of the bus

If the bus has a net acceleration of 0, then no. If the bus suddenly accelerates, yes.

Alternatively, if the bus driver does a brake check or hits a nigger (or both) we'll be seeing our man on the inside of the windshield.

it is a well known fact that if you perform a backflip on a bus going 88.8mph, you will in fact tear a hole in the fabric of time and space. Therefore, it is alot like dividing by zero, and is illegal

    stupid idiot
    >> Anonymous 01/27/10(Wed)17:19:45 No.192042579
yes if the bus is accelerating, when he jumps he will be going to speed of the bus when he jumps, but if the bus stays the same speed then he will just jump in place.

Hey /B/-Tards. The answer is actually no. He is moving at the same speed as the bus so when he jumps his speed does not change. If there is wind inside the bus, YES. If the bus driver steps on the gas while he's in the air, YES
    >> Anonymous 01/27/10(Wed)17:30:57 No.192045167
Hey guys the gaz in the bus is in mouvement, so the fly's flying in a normal environment(from her referential)

nope, the only thing that slows down the forward movement of a projectile is air density,

since the bus is enclosed it has to move teh weight of the air same as it has to move it's self and it's passengers

now on an open flatbed truck yes, he would be pushed back as the bus continued to power it's way forward through said air

    same with a fly

page just says 'going along' which seems like they're trying to imply a constant, no acceleration or deceleration

whats the reasoning behind people saying he'll slow when he jumps?

well yeah, he will move. he'll move up in th air when jumps. then the bus will have moved that air as it drives along, so the guy- while in the air- will land further back as the bus would have moved along
    >> Anonymous 01/27/10(Wed)17:37:30 No.192046698
learn some physics... he keeps moving with the bus, just like when you toss a ball in the air while in the car, it continues to move along with the car, so it looks as if it goes straight up and down

It's the same wrong logic as people who think that jumping in a falling elevator right before it hits the ground will be ok - they won't. Even though you have jumped up in relation to the elevator, you're still falling in relation to the ground. You're just falling a little slower.
    >> Anonymous 01/27/10(Wed)17:46:22 No.192048817
This is probably a troll, but I'll bite.

The man and the bus are travelling at the same velocity. It's all about relative velocities, and your velocity is 0 relative to the bus no matter how fast the bus is going.

This is why car crashes are so dangerous. The car comes to a big halt (say, for the sake of argument, it hits a wall) and since you were travelling at the same speed as the car, you will continue forward and if you're not wearing your seatbelt you will continue past the windscreen.

right, but in terms of forces, that would be a drag force. Since the bus is being affected drag force, and the person is essentially part of the bus by being enclosed inside, the person doesn't feel drag and stays in one place, if there is constant velocity and no acceleration while they are in midair.
    >> Anonymous 01/27/10(Wed)17:48:07 No.192049208
no the man is going the same speed as the bus. now if the man could somehow stay in the air for a while, the pic would happen.

    OP, No.

The reason why the person jumping inside the bus will not be moved to the back because of the air pressure in the bus. There is no air flowing in the bus in the same velocity of the bus speed. So no matter how high he jumps, as long there is no air flowing into the bus. He should OK.
