    First off, im not trolling.

I definitely wanna join a branch of the military, but im not sure which. Im leaning towards Marines or Navy. I am looking for some pros and cons and maybe some personal stories of either. Again, I am being completely serious, i kinda have my heart set on one but i just need to some reassurance.

    Pros: ?????????????
Cons: Being a welfare queen that lives off the tax dollars of the American people, occupying portions of other countries for no reason, getting ass-raped

I was in the Marine Corp for 20 years and retired in 2005. What do you want to know?
    >> Anonymous 01/26/10(Tue)22:39:45 No.191853527
Go for air force. If not, be sure to go into intelligence. If you're really pimp, be air force intelligence.

How much action do you see. How likely do you think it would be to die as a private in the war? What are the major risks.
    >> Anonymous 01/26/10(Tue)22:42:04 No.191854000
OP, ignore the Welfare Queen bullshit comments you get from the ass bags on /b/.

Yeah, you'll probably die. Marines go in first and stay longer. IEDs are a bitch. There's a good chance you'll get blown up at least once.

I didn't see any action. I was in aviation (ordnance) for the first 15 years and then recruiting for the last 5.

    real men join the marines
    >> Anonymous 01/26/10(Tue)22:44:14 No.191854503
Just got out of the Navy after a 4 year enlistment, figured the military wasn't for me. In most cases it'll go like this:

Navy - Best schools, semi-fast advancement, will most likely be on a ship unless you get a delicious shore billet for 3 years. Can deploy to the middle east if you want.

Marines - always deployable, advance semi-fast, can and will get called in to work for garbage reasons very often. However marines get the most girls and are the most respected besides navy seals.

Army - fast advancement, surrounded by many retards, always deployable, will get called in to work very often like marines.

Air force - Hottest girls, slowest promotion rate, good schools as well. Not deployable unless by choice.

Coast Guard - Fastest advancement, extremely hot girls, work with conceded faggots like yourself if you joined this branch.

i just signed for the marines

if you are seriously considering the navy, remember, coast guard has co-ed ships

A very small percentage die in combat, its even less than it was in past wars. Of the 100 plus jobs you can choose from (depending on what you qualify for) are combat related. Everyone else supports the combat troops.
    >> Anonymous 01/26/10(Tue)22:46:52 No.191855097
Navy: You're probably going to sleep in a cot. You're hoping your 'roomie' is a quite masturbator.

Marines: When you're off ship you're camping all the time.

Army: You're never on ship, you're always camping.

Air Force: Needs runways which are permanent. Thus apartment like dorms and great restraunt like chow halls.

I am on a 1:1 deployment ratio for active duty air force
I deploy every 6 months (I have a "desk job")

Choose based on education and what you want to be doing in 20 years

Do you want to be slugging a gun around when you are 60?
