The thought that my parents (mom: 54yo, father: 60yo) are not going to live as long as they have already lived is killing me. They are not as young or as healthy as I (male, 24yo) remember seeing them as a young chap. My baby sister had her last final exam today and she sat down with my mother to go through all her school memories and I felt terribly sad when I realized how much my parents have aged.

I am moving to another country (USA) to pursue my PhD and am staying there for a while. Perhaps for good. Sure, I will go back to my country during summer vacation, but that it: 40-50 days per year. My parents choose to call me very sparingly in order not to distract me.

I feel sad and I don't know what to do. :'(

Spend as much quality time (you know, doing fun things) with them as you can. The fact that you actually care about this is a sign that you have a good relationship with them, and you should do what you can to enjoy it.

When you're in the states, you should call them more often - they don't have to be the ones calling you all the time. Maybe help them set up a webcam or something so you can chat over skype, instead of just phonecalls.
