How to deal with controlling parents?

I'm 22 and live at home.
earlier this year my parents called my boss at work and asked him about my vacations. He told them I was planning to take 2 weeks off in January to go to the mountains (I was trying to keep this a secret)

When I got home my parents were waiting for me with cans of paint and brushes. They wanted to paint the house with me and I knew I was free, so I had to cancel my trip. A few weeks later they came into my room, re arranged the furniture, and threw away my chair and desk. My new desk is too low and it makes my back hurt (they bought it with my credit card, by the way)

They called my boss again last week and told them I want to take another two weeks off in July (they want to go on vacation and need someone to drive the car)
since I've already taken time off this semester, I'll have to take a non paid vacation. I also had to give them about 500$ for the trip.

I want to tell them to fuck off but I can't

Move. Out.
>>

This. Why are you still living with them?
>>

>>12170728
They say it's a waste of money to pay rent if I can just live at home. I can't really argue against that
>>
>>12170725
This. Also, don't let them walk over you like that. Call your boss and tell him you don't want the vacation. Also tell him your parents don't speak for you.
>>
>>12170734
Uhh, you just gave the perfect argument against it. They're controlling your life. That rent money is the price you pay for being out from under their suffocating grip.
>>
your parents don't want to accept that you're not their little kid anymore. talk to them about it, then be firm about it. if you planned a trip and they made plans for you without asking you first, do the mature adult thing and don't yield. explain them that they should ask you first. if you don't establish the limits yourself, they're never going to see you as an independent adult
>>12170728
>>12170725
not everyone has the economic independence you might have
>>
>>12170734
Yeah, but paying $500 to basically work a second fucking job on their whim isn't a waste of money? Them buying shit you don't want with your money isn't a waste of money?

Look, parents always want the best for you, but they never actually know what's the best for you. If I've learned anything from life, it's that. Move the fuck out if you are able. It'll be better for you, and your relationship with your parents.

There's only so much we can do. You have some deep-seated psychological issues that will take years to overcome. You can't possibly hope to move yourself out and not fuck it up. Just try to do the best you can and take baby steps.
>>

'economic independence'? Get a job. If you're over 18 and living with your parents you should be ashamed. And don't pull the 'meh, the economy blah blah'. The unemployment rate in America is 7.7%. That means if you can't get a job, you suck more than 92.3% of people.
>>
>>12170755
>You have some deep-seated psychological issues

actually, I do. I slept with my parents until I was 14. this must have had consequences.
whats this called and where can I read more about it?
>>
>>12170768
It's called pedophilia. You can read about it on /b/. Pictures, too.
>>
OP, your parents are lazy and they expect you to live to work even if you need a vacation. What you should have do is leave for the vacation anyway. They could have done the painting themselves.

If you can afford it, move out ASAP.
>>
>>12170766
>implying that getting a job means being able to pay for rent and food etc etc
I'm not from america but I'm studying engineering and working a 4 hour job and I don't make enough money to live on my own nor I can afford to work more hours because I'll not be able to keep up with my studies. Grow up. Not everyone lives in a fairytale.

They actually have a little apartment 10 blocks from work, I want to move there but they won't let me. They use the apartment as a dumpster, every once in a while they load up the car with old books/furniture/clothes/random stuff and dump it there. I've visited the place a couple times and it has plastic bags and boxes piled up all the way to the ceiling. hoarders man. I don't know what goes through people's heads when they buy a ton of shit on impulse that they don't even have enough room for
>>
You and your boss are acting like a couple of fucking idiots. Secure your stuff so they can't do that, secure your bosses fat facehole, and start forming a plan to get away from those freaks.
>>
>they won't let me

Or else they'll do what? Kick you out?
>>
>>12170893
That's what she is trying to say. If the person stands up to his/her controlling parents, the person will get kicked out.
>>
>>12170893
Are you talking about this post? >>12170857

They can just not give me the keys. It's their apartment.
>>
Just move out already.
If they get mad nothing bad is going to happen. Just remember that it's totally unacceptable if they try to justify breaking into your apartment.
>>
>>12170720 (OP)
move out
>>
>>12170910
And he's said he thinks rent is a waste of money, but people point out he's better off out anyway.

Stand up. If they back off, you're free.
They kick you out? You're free.
>>
>>12170943
I'd that's the case, she probally has stockholm syndrome, the familial form.
>>
OP, don't be like the guys on /r9k/ who'll do something stupid despite there being 200+ posts telling them not to.
Find an apartment, pack everything that's yours, and move out without telling them. And for God's sake, tell your boss to stop telling your parents about your personal life. Doesn't matter if you come off as meek or an asshole when you do it, just get your point across.

>waste of money to have freedom, gain valuable world experience and learn more about yourself

Por que?
