  • Attention 4chan extension/user script/archive developers: Some time in the next few days, we'll be rolling out a complete HTML rewrite of the imageboards.
The design will remain the same, but the underlying HTML/CSS is completely new, and validates HTML5/CSS3 (with some tweaks to account for cross-browser compatibility).

Please visit this thread to read more about the changes, and here to preview the code.

As a regular user, these changes should not affect you. You will need to update your 4chan browser extensions/user scripts when their maintainer updates them to be compatible with the changes.
The official 4chan Chrome extension will be ready to go when the updates happen, and 4chan X should be ready soon. We'll post more details on the day of the migration!

How do you get over a hard depression that has been lasting over ... 3 years?

    > Going out partying/drinking with coworkers did not help.
    > Switching a place where to live either.
    > Travelling did not help.
    > Extreme sports did not do a thing. Didn't even excite.
    > Suck at making friends, have none left anyway.

That all being noted, nobody knows that I'm depressed. People just know me as the slightly introverted one.

It seems the only things that seem to matter are donating money to sheltered animals and listening music..

Take up running. After a while your head completely clears and you'll forget about your problems.

Not to mention, you'll get the runners high after a bit :)

    Very well. I'll try. Thanks.

The only thing I'd say is to listen to good uplifting music. Not something like "YOU ARE THE WOOORRLD, YOU ARE SPECIALLLL." But just something with a good upbeat. Other than that, talk to a professional, try anti-depressants.

    Tried both.
Only find peace in NiN. A a cliche person in depression..

Vitamin D and more sun. Get some omega 3's and take them both daily. Run at a high intensity for 10 minutes and do some light exercise afterward. Keep this up for about a month and your depression will go away I guarantee.

Also stop drinking if you do for a while and cut back on the fap in your spare/boredom time. You'll feel better if you do this I promise. The main thing is consistency and finding the drive to do it despite depression.

Alright, fair enough. Weather is finally good around here, so I'll try running daily after work + cycling.
    Will get those vitamins tomorrow.
    Thanks for the advice.

I'm the original person who suggested running.

It has been one of the largest contributing factors to solving the depression I was suffering from due to family troubles so I vouch for its effectiveness.

    OK, lets start with this:

How did you got major depression in the first place?

Did you went to a therapist?

For me personally: meds. I spent 5 years doing absolutely nothing until my um dragged me to a pshychiatrist. She prescribed me some pills, and they seem to be doing the trick. Unfortunately my depression is chronic so I have to keep taking pills to maintain my mood. I'm not exactly high on life, but at least I'm moving forward.
However, judging from the amount of activities you undertook, I'm guessing your depression isn't as severe. If you do need medication you may only need them for a year or two untill you can get by on your own.
