How can I find a job?
I'v sent out about 3-4 apps online to places like Target, manually handed in about 6-10 apps to stores, and many, many CL ads.

    Is it my resume?
    >> Anonymous 12/07/11(Wed)19:41 No.8608594
Change the font on it to Comic Sans.

    Instant hire.

    I know that feel.

but your resume looks sloppy. I thought mine looked bad(though I've edited a few things on here since I last made this one)
    >> Anonymous 12/07/11(Wed)19:42 No.8608602
which target did you apply at and what is your name? i'll give them a call.

put all your duties in past tense, even the ones for your current jub. take out the thing that's like "nice job, but not enough hours" or whatever.

    Really?

    [citation needed]

As you can tell, I'm kind of inexperienced with this whole resume deal.

    leave that off feggit

    >Do a second count for accuracy. Good pay, but not a steady job.
what the fuck -- leave this shit off

    wow

No one cares about your descriptions on education, etc. Cut those out.

Aug 08-present, High School, Honor Roll

Work, LIST the names of places and contact numbers, not "various car dealerships."
    Count inventory with a partner.
Cut the rest of that qualitative shit out, you're not one to judge your own work if its "good" or not. Also, cut that bullshit about "good pay, not steady blahblah" no one cares.

Work grant is alright. Still lots of bullshit. Cut it, keep it simple, stick to facts.

Description for Father's business is done well.

After three years, I've learned not to trust 4chan with personal information.

    Then again....

Sorry, I just don't feel like risking it. Tell them all to hire more 17, almost 18 year-olds.

    Thanks guys.

I sort of just typed this out.

What about the about me section?

    Do they even bother?

    Keep?

    >second page

You shouldn't need that much, but if you insist:

Objective first, then work experience and your listing for work experience is awful and too broad

You need to reorganize that header, it takes too much space

Athletics are worthless unless you're looking for a position with direct relation to it

Your additional information section shit, use actual bubbles instead of "-", calling it additional information is essentially writing "irrelevant shit you can gloss over", write skills instead and make them relevant to who you're handing the resume to. Which is to say everything above and below your languages needs to be axed, save that shit for the interview.

Most of the shit you listed is irrelevant to most jobs or isn't specific enough.

you "sort of just typed this out," and then applied to places?

Are you retarded? I know americans are dumb, but this is really pushing it.
    >> Anonymous 12/07/11(Wed)19:54 No.8608693
Hooooly shit this is awful. Go online and look at some fucking example resumes. Just because you're 17 doesn't mean you need to broadcast how incompetent you are.
    >> Anonymous 12/07/11(Wed)19:54 No.8608697
also, you shouldn't have a second page unless you've had long lasting, higher(ish) up jobs that had a lot of detail in terms of duties and what you did

What cause such a reaction? Grammar? Style?

    >>8608710

Both. Most of us have written proper resumes and this just reads sloppily in every regard. You have to type this from the perspective of an employer reading a piece of paper selling someone, not as a dude that just wants to "get it out of the way".
    >> Anonymous 12/07/11(Wed)20:00 No.8608732
    >>8608710

Everything is just very informal. Informal language, informal formatting, informal descriptions.

Resumes need to be very precise and concise. Choose every word, every line, every font very carefully. Take my advice of looking at examples online and adapt them for your work.

You need to emphasize your strengths. If the job you are applying for matches up with some experience you have in the past, then put that work experience first. Cater each resume you submit to the specific job you are applying for. Try to figure out what exactly the job you are applying for needs and make it sound like you match their requirements to a tee.

Awesome, but how can I emphasize strengths if I don't really have any?

    I have little work experience
