Is getting a job as easy as everyone makes it to be?
Everything is online...nobody calls. I'm going to be homeless next week and I'm 18.

There are a gazillion factors affecting your chances of getting a job, I can't smell what your problem is from here you know. Well actually, I can sort of... :P. Jokes aside, getting a job is easy, getting a job that'll pay your bills can be a lot harder, as the first aren't as sought after as the second, though again it depends on your location, your skill set, the mood of the people hiring you, the phase of the moon and the mean weight of the frogs outside your nieces window...

Spoilers, you have to call them. No employer will ever, ever put effort into hiring you. You have to be persistent and annoying.

Minimize your costs, set up passive income streams (because you know you have realistic, lucrative ideas), and get off on the grind.

The online thing acts as a fencepost. You either send in a Curriculum vitae that makes them notice you, or you bypass it altogether and step up to the store manager directly, even just to ask for an application form.

I meant your name. He is in the same situation as you OP. Also now that I think about it he wouldn't use a konata picture.

Don't go for online job ads.
Try and find those notes hainging on notice boards and other places. With these you can get jobs that are not yet subject to the huge competition of the internet. Then take the note with you when you leave... To further reduce the number of compeeting applicants.

    don't apply online

I graduated college and was looking for a job for 8 months applying online, then I got off my ass and handed out resumes for a day then got like 6 calls back the next day and a handful more calls the following week, all this after 8 months of nothing

the thing with applying online is that like 500 people will see that posting and apply and there is a very slim chance you will get it while handing out resumes you will have a far greater chance and they see that you put forth the effort of coming in person and you get to meet/talk to them
