sup /adv/ I am diagnosed with aspergers
a real diagnosis, performed my medical professionals not by reading wikipedia
I go to groups to try to learn how to cope or adapt or learn skills or whatever the fuck it is I need to interact
but I just find everyone there awkward and weird and disturbing, probably how people can feel around me when particularly shy
so wtf do I do?

I'm afraid being normal is subjective. Normalcy depends on where you are at the time.

theres not any fear
I'm trying to do shit
but these groups/programs are aimed at people much further along the spectrum than myself, or have learned to operate on their own alone not interacting with society and have the opinion "fuck neurotypicals we rule the world"
neither can provide me with much help

how bad is your aspergers? what do you have trouble with?
>> AfroAS !QhK4CZErjc 08/09/11(Tue)09:00 No.7284093
From further reading >>7283801

It appears that you are more of a normal acting Asperger's type, similar to straight-acting gay males. People with asperger's usually are "awkward and weird and disturbing" because people who are nerotypical see them that way, but in your case since you are not the type you see them that way.

OP, what specific symptoms or traits of Asperger's did your professional recognize?

well same things said about me by nasty people due to lack of eye contact, shyness, quietness, etc

do you feel it inhibits you with a conversation between your friends and family or just people you dont know very well

is it the lack of understanding emotion?

What about
-Face blindness?
-A encyclopedic knowledge of a narrow interest (such as tanks, subways, countries, a time period)
-Disorganization?

Those are also symptoms of aspergers that I have as well. Asperger's is beyond just simple social awkwardness.

no and no
>>7284114
both
I dont know what to say or do
and dont have topics in common anyway
>>7284125
I remember one of the tests was arranging cards chronologically, the key was the changing facial expressions
failed that one
with people I dont know if its the same
I have a general knowledge of a number of things - for example I I know the general layout and can quickly find out schedules, that seems pretty reasonable and normal for a regular user of public transportation but I dont by any means know every single line and station and schedule and rail vehicle model off by heart
By disorganization you mean what?

not half as bad as it must feel to have to boost your weak ego by undermining people on the internet

Disorganization as in not being able to find what you need for the day or having trouble finding where your stuff is.

I've been professionally diagnosed with Asperger's too.

Don't go to those groups, if you think they're awkward you're probably better off than them. Just go out and live life and learn things the hard way. It's what I did and most people don't know I'm off-kilter unless I tell em.
>> Anonymous 08/09/11(Tue)09:39 No.7284347
most kids with aspergers, you couldnt tell unless they or someone else told you. you just need to find a group OP who shares common interests with you. like a club or something. TRUST ME THIS WILL DO THE TRICK.

Read Juanita Lovett's Solutions for Adults with Asperger's Syndrome, it's excellent.
