I'm also brothers with a NEET. There really isn't much you can do to motivate them or help them get the fuck out of the house. If they even have a passing interest in education, Associates degrees are nice, low-hanging fruit for them.

The only way I got mine out of the damn house was by getting him a manual labor job at my workplace. There have been several times I've tried to get him jobs, but it basically came down to where I did everything up to where I just needed to tell him "Show up here at X time".

Hmm, the problem with this is that he has been given several jobs before and still nothing. The family has helped him get jobs but he constantly did not show up for work, which led to him getting fired.

Perhaps we should try again? It gets a little disheartening when he doesn't lift a finger to keep his job.

Understood. I've come up with the idea of locking the fridge up so he can't get food anymore unless he does something to improve his life.

Another idea to get him to fix his life is possibly taking away his laptop and only giving it to him when he needs to search for jobs.

One final thing is just punching him in the face everyday until he gets a job or does something to improve his life, but I'm still not to sure about this one.

I tend to notice that's a big difference between men and women who are like this.

Men tend to just be lazy, childish and just be unresponsive/nihlistic.
Women however will just get loud and do crazy shit until you either give in or manage to intimidate them somehow.

but I do know how it feels to be a nihlistic lump. And I always find that the best thing to do is to find something I actually give a shit about to knock me back into reality.
Theoretically, if you find something that your brother truly cares about, and get to focus on it, he may start to change himself as least a bit in persuit of whatever that goal might be.

It's pretty much his parents fault. My parents provided me with only food and shelter. Durng my second year of high school I was sick of not having any decent clothes, the newest video games and extra food so I went out and got a part time job. Yeah working sucks but I would of been kicked out of my house long ago if I didn't.
