Should I even bother applying to college? Californiafag here. I'd like to get into a decent UC

My gpa is a shitty 3.3 and my SAT score was 1730. I did write some pretty good essays though. Most schools are looking for 4.0s and lots of extracurriculars, both of which I don't have. Should I bother applying or should I just go to CC?

It's infinitely easier to get into a university after doing a couple of years at a community college. They won't care about extra circulars at that point. You apply as a transfer student and the only thing they look at is your CC transcript. A really top of the line university might look at your HS transcript, but no. You're not trying to go to MIT.

You'll miss out on the whole freshman dorm thing but if you're not an extreme social butterfly with a lot of party-hearty desires, you won't miss much. I fucking hated the dorms and I'm a pretty social chick. I had some fun, but I regret spending all the money I did on the university tuition, food plan, dorm, etc. Not even remotely worth it.

Hit up the CC, get your associates and then transfer. Smooth sailing.

CC is definitely worth it. But you have to have an immaculate transcript.

I did all right in highschool and told myself I'd be awesome in college, but then it came and I had the same attitude about that I did on high school classes. Never really applied myself very much. Still made decent grades, but not enough to be in top 10%.

So I ended up at the local state school that everyone goes to that can't get into the prestigious university. Part of me feels like I let myself down, but I'm actually very happy at the state school. Not only is everyone else dumb as fuck (so you look like a genius), but the women are gorgeous and plentiful, and I got lucky in that the program here for my major is actually better than the one at the prestigious university, so it's a win-win.
Moral of the story: don't knock shitty state schools, they aren't bad places to learn, the knowledge is the same, they're often cheaper, and you still get a degree.

Are you looking at requirements for Caltech engineering or for the liberal arts major at UCPodunk? Post-secondary is usually pretty easy to get into for anyone who's alright at academics, you don't need to be perfect, as long s you're not going for the top-end programs and schools. And hey, applications are usually pretty cheap, might as well try. (Or you can always ask your guidance counsellor, if you have one - they'd know way more about the admissions process than 4chan)

OP here I'm probably going to major in Economics

I'm afraid of that happening to me as well, but I heard CC is extremely easy
