Wait man, I bought bf3 key for 14 euros from shady russian site. (they forgot to add a digit from the key, and I complained and igot another key, then I randomly entered digits at the missing one and it worked, so 2x bf3 for 14 euros.)

Problem is though, all the vanilla maps are shit, you need back to karkand expansion for another 10 euros to get decent maps.

No mods are probably a product of Frostbite 2 being a cosmic cube made by Swedish archmages in the Glacial Tower of A Million Icy Deaths. That or EA, for whatever reason, not wanting people to make mods. It's probably a mix. If mod tools ever did come out I would gladly embrace them though, but I'm not gonna stop playing a game I enjoy just because it doesn't have mods.

I think DLC isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it is a double edged sword and used far too poorly in today's market. Good DLC can enhance a game immensely for a cheap price (Oblivion: Shivering Isles, Fallout New Vegas DLC) and bad DLC can ruin a game. I judge the quality of DLC based on:
The price tag versus the amount of content as well as how much DLC there is and how often it's released.
I'll never buy CoD DLC because it's too little content for the price tag and they come out too often. CoD DLC is bad DLC by my own standards, so I won't buy it. However, BF3 DLC, when I look at it and judge it on my standards, think that, yeah, I am willing to buy this (it's just barely though, probably wouldn't get them if it was just the maps). I hope that clears things up.

Imagine we're back in 2002. We would see Battlefield 3 get released just as it was last year. A year or so later we would see the release of an expansion pack called Battlefield 3: Global Confrontation which would feature the equivalent content we will see delivered through all these 4 Battlefield 3 DLC packs. The difference being, we're getting the content delivered in chunks and cheaper 15bucks instead of all together for 60. The SCAR-H in BF3 has a short barrel as part of a close quarters configuration. That makes it more of a carbin even if it uses the heavy 7.62mm NATO round.

The SCAR-L will probably feature a longer barrel which would result in higher accuracy compared to the SCAR-H and thus more appropriate for to medium distances.
