04/15/12(Sun)05:39 No.3753893>>3753650 The
only thing is common is that Dark Falz (Dark Force) is usually the
antagonist in some form, and there is the Numan race (now called
Newmans) but the lore is pretty different.
The three "series"
(Phantasy Star Classic, Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Universe)
all take place in different systems with no relation to each other,
although the games after Online usually like to pay tribute to Online in
some way. References to the classic installments are more rare.
Really
I enjoy them for different reasons. The old PS games are great turn
based RPGs, the new ones are fun action hang-out games, and both are
engrossing sci-fi universes. I can understand someone not liking one or
the other though, and my heart goes out to you considering we may never
see another "classic" PS again.
Fun fact, PSO in early
development was a new IP, but Sega decided to latch on the dying
Phantasy Star IP to it and the rest is history. |
