Torrent bro, just open utorrent and there should be something that says create torrent (forgot where it was located) then you will select the file you want to turn into a torrent, it will compress it and make your torrent then you shall upload it (preferably to nyaa.eu)

i'd vote for ship 2, seeing how it was the highest english populated last alpha. that way, due to the very likely chance /vg/ stops giving a shit about each other, we can still fallback to the rest of the english speaking population.

Well considering I have to be sitting at the computer to click these fucking error pop ups every 10 minutes, that I have a busy week ahead of me and that I've only managed to get to 10% in 4 hours, it looks like the closed beta will actually start before I download the fucking client.

I will be eagerly awaiting a torrent, but how long will I have to wait before ANY english player downloads this shit? And how long are there going to be only 2 or 3 seeders? Would it even really be faster?

I guess at the very least if the game was in torrent form I could actually download overnight.

I just have the cheapest DSL available in my area, I'm sure that's the problem. Weirdly, it's starting to go faster now. Even though it's getting closer to evening in Japan which I figured would be primetime.

Thanks to the anon that posted GhostMouse, I found a different version that allows timed repeat and I think I will set it up and try and keep this going while I sleep.

As a fan of the original phantasy star games, I never really saw the appeal in the 'online' versions.
Is there actually ANYTHING left from the old games? Be it locations ( i want to go back to algo) or general lore ( i think i noticed numans amongst the playable races i think?)

The only thing is common is that Dark Falz (Dark Force) is usually the antagonist in some form, and there is the Numan race (now called Newmans) but the lore is pretty different.

The three "series" (Phantasy Star Classic, Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Universe) all take place in different systems with no relation to each other, although the games after Online usually like to pay tribute to Online in some way. References to the classic installments are more rare.

Really I enjoy them for different reasons. The old PS games are great turn based RPGs, the new ones are fun action hang-out games, and both are engrossing sci-fi universes. I can understand someone not liking one or the other though, and my heart goes out to you considering we may never see another "classic" PS again.

Fun fact, PSO in early development was a new IP, but Sega decided to latch on the dying Phantasy Star IP to it and the rest is history.

Boy am I glad. While I hated the original series (I hated the genre when I played PS2 for the first time and it soured me forever on the other two Genesis games) I fucking loved the setting and look of the games, not to mention the music. Give it time and they'll make a traditional RPG again someday but right now Japan is in love with these co-op grind-a-tons.

If the difference would have only been gameplay-wise and everything would actually be set in the same system etc., I would probably give it another try. But since it seems to be a completely new franchise with a different name slapped on it, i think i will pass.

When I heard you discussing that all servers seem to be different ships, I actually thought it would be like the palm escape ships from PSIII and IV and i had brief hopes for an actual continuity.
