ME3 would have been fifty times better if the game started with Shepard leading an allied force against the Reapers on Earth, *losing* that fight, and the rest of the game was about the surviving remnants fighting a losing battle in a resistance movement.

The "these two races are in conflict, choose which one you favor and they'll fight the BIG BAD alongside you in the ULTIMATE BATTLE" shit was old when DA: Origins tried it. A slowly dying resistance movement against impossible odds would give Shepard more reason to pout than some random kid dying.

I watched an rpg mode and I'm surprised at how little input you have in conversations now, some whole conversations with key characters have merely one Player dialogue input option for the entire conversation and with the rest automatically decided for you...

In 1 and 2, pretty much every time Shepard spoke it was because you had picked a dialogue choice. Because the tacit understanding there is that you're not directing this character, Shepard, through his life -- he is you, in the context of "badass space captain." He's there to express your agency as a player.

I wish Bioware would get this shit through their heads. Shepard is not a concrete character. He's a tool for me, the player, to act within the world. He's my interface device. And since that interface has been established as taking place is in the context of spoken dialogue, then he should not say a fucking thing unless I tell him to. It'd be like Kratos randomly attacking without my pressing the circle button. It fucks up the dichotomy me and Shepard got goin.

As much as I liked some of the Renegade interrupts, they do sort of always raise that little niggling doubt in my mind. Why would I, as Shepard, authorize myself to...do something....that I don't know what it is yet...? What's actually going on there, in terms of player-Shepard relationship?

Usually they do a good job of it. Like you see that guy fixing the helicopter, and the sparky fork thing on the box, so you get the idea for what could be done with it at the same time Shepard does -- when the prompt pops up, you're like "Oh, I could stab him with this."

But other times -- the crazy Krogans on Tuchanka -- you're just like "Oh, a Renegade interrupt. I guess I'll...do...something."

Pretty any time Shepard does or says something that surprises the player, something has gone wrong.

Sometimes shit like that happens and I get the sense it's a writer doing it. Like he's typing up dialogue and he goes

And you can sort of see why a writer would do something like that, and it's sort of a funny little "joke" . . . but at some point a designer should have stepped in and said, "No, listen, Shepard can't do anything the player didn't choose to do. That screws up our whole thing."

Just beat it on Xbox. I can safely say that the ending is actually pretty good. To the retards that say the child is all the reapers; it's just what Shepard saw it as. Regardless, I chose to kill all non-organic life. Word to the wise, when at the end of the game with your squad; choose two people you want to die. It seems that the rest of them get away on the ship with Joker and crash land in some remote world and manage to survive.

Ending was satisfying enough.

What happens is, you fight your way up to the light beam to get to the citadel, then there is a run towards an active reaper which is stopping you from getting to the citadel. You almost make it but then the reaper shoots it's laser and kills everyone including your two chosen squadmates, but Shepard and Anderson who manage to make it up to the citadel; practically dead. They get to the control panel, convince Illusive Man he's indoctrinated; Shepard kills him, Anderson dies from blood loss, and then the Catalyst brings him up to the top of the citadel to decide the fate of humanity.

I was replaying ME2 and just did Garrus' mission with Sidonis. It was always my choice to spare him, keep Garrus from really going off the rails. I always felt that was best for Garrus, like I was saving him from drowning. I read that if you spared Sidonis he helps Garrus' family get off of Palaven when the Reapers attack. And i also dont think that it was "alienmancers" who ruined your mass effect. It was a mix of Bioware being bought by a company that tries to bleed every franchise dry for profit, it was negligence on the part of bioware itself to realize what made their games popular and set them apart from other games and it was the rush of a release date making the developer basically not putting any real innovations into the game to make deadlines. (ie. a menu screen by the 10th, an upgrade system by the 12th, a story by the 13th)

Here's my take on it.

Basically the story really happened, but it was so long ago that many details were lost over time (which cause the variations). The only "definite" is that the mass relays were destroyed (which is why it happens in every ending).
I'm guessing Bioware is using it as a cop out so they can expand later on.

How does choosing between planets or races or whatever work? I've read about having to choose between Turians (Palaven) and Asari (Thessia). Do you only get to do one set of missions for the one you chose while the other gets raped behind the scenes?I guess it encourages multiple playthroughs but that's kind of fucking lame if so.

Or can you do both and then the one you gave priority survives while the other planet gets raped?

All of ME3 is a lie. A product of Shepard's deranged mind.

John Shepard - a mental hospital patient. He was taken into our care after killing his wife and eating his 3 months old child. He explained his actions by stating that they stole his teeth.

At first, John was being treated by Dr. Arren, however, this brilliant mind retired after John smeared his feces all over the hospital walls.
After Dr. Arren left, Jack Harper became the new department head doctor. Harper previously took the scientific world by storm with his progressive methods of mental illness treatment. However, Shepards condition quickly deteriorated while under his care and he created his own world, where he is the saviour of the galaxy, a courageous soldier and cosmic stud John Shepard. Other patients then joined his "team" and Shepard began
accusing Harper of helping some "Reapers" and being a millionaire, the head of a criminal organisation called Cerberus.

According to Shepard, all psychiatric ward employees are shopkeepers on some kind of "Citadel", members of "The Council" or mercenaries. As stated by Shepard, old lady Reper is the main source of this threat.

AI is definitely improved. Number one thing I noticed in the demo is that they shoot over or beside cover instead of directly into the cover. Which is a fair suppression tactic. They still ding your shields from time to time that way.

Also it's not about the choice being good or bad, it simply improves your standing with the Quarians by blowing them up. Get it? Probably the worst detail that's been spoiled to me is the epilogue thing talking about "the Shepard". I mean I always knew that his name was symbolic and such, but I didn't realize Bioware was going to explicitly call attention to it. Now I'm going to end up playing the whole game viewing Shepard in that light all the time.

Like when the fleets arrive for the final battle, I'm going to be thinking "Ah, he's bringing in his flock".

Honestly doesn't bother me. ME1 was full of pointless decisions (where all three options resulted in the SAME SPOKEN LINE), and ME2 was still guilty of doing that, though not nearly as often.

All they did was basically remove the neutral option, which is fine really since the neutral options never did anything anyway. There was no incentive to pick them.
