holy fuck that line was miserable. 2 1/2-3 hours long in that hot fucking sun. honestly, wasn't really worth it. I had more fun being outside in the areas without requiring a badge just to see everyone

It's more annoying than anything. If they were just going to have it be so useless I'd rather they not have it at all. If you take a few minutes you can just go through the uncontrolled doors (there are lots). It's a total waste of time and if someone was going to bomb the place they'd have zero problems getting inside. Seriously, I'd rather they not have the door checks at all.

I wonder how much they make because those hotdogs are pretty pricey.

Just got back from day 2 early because I couldn't find any interesting panels or screenings.

greyhound is the LA greyhound station. the area is kind of scuzzy but still okay. you can take the metro and then a bus. it'd be nice if they picked up at union but they ain't no megabus. make sure you show them that you have tickets already and your ticket because the lines were long as fuck last year. they were like sorry bro, bus full, you have to reschedule and eventually I said fuck it and just went to the waiting area with my tickets.

that's one nice thing about megabus. you don't have to worry about people getting stuff last minute because you need to buy online.

pic is a diagram of the line for All About Japanese Food at room 501 (red line). You can see it starts at Room 501, continues south, then loops back to where it started, eventually running out of room because there was a line of people being herded to meet Eric Vale (blue line). They weren't letting anyone else through that intersection. It was basically a dead end for all.

That meant that as people kept trying to join the Japanese Food line, there was nowhere for them to go, and they all bunched up at the entrance to Room 501, like a blood clot. On the other side of the Eric Vale line was another growing mass of people going nowhere in particular.

I never got into any panel in that time-slot due to the amount of people. I think AX underestimated the amount of people that would attend on Friday evening on a holiday weekend,

Best AX in years, 10/10, would come again next year.

Actually, no it's not.

I stayed at the JW for four nights(I leave on day 4 because there's generally not much going on) including day 0, and my total was about $870 after taxes, with the rate of $189 per night. I was also splitting this with some friends, and while obviously more than other hotels, completely worth it IMO. We ended up getting a jr suite too which we payed no additional charge for, I don't even recall that being a selection on AX's site.
