Raves are generally just called the dance since it's usually all ages. I don't know why it's always labeled a rave.

I usually don't give a shit and just come in normal clothes. There really isn't a thing such as a dress code or anything. don't get your hopes up because all it is are a bunch of tryhard raver kids getting sweaty and grindy on each other. Just come to enjoy the music and spend time with friends.

As someone who djs at both raves and cons, let me assure you con "raves" are NOT raves. They're little more than high school dances, quite frankly the only reason I play them is for the free badge. They are disgusting jokes, they distinctly capture all the negative aspects of the warehouse vibe (the unbearable stench specifically) without any of the nice (albeit obnoxious) people on drugs. Honestly I'd suggest not getting your hopes up for the dance, and if you go to it, don't bother dressing up. It makes you look like a huge tool.

Rave wear looks awful.

It's mostly people getting high/drunk and dancing. I wouldn't go to one alone. There was some guy at a con a few years ago, I think he was in his 20's, tried to rape a 14 yr old after slipping roofies into her drink.

So just be careful anon. They can get rowdy.

They definitely haven't matured yet... I got sucked into this because of them. I've always been interested in cons and cosplay, but doing this stuff with them won't be as exciting and I'm predicting my first con won't be as wonderful as I imagined it to be.
