If everything would be awkward cause you said no to a date then you have a much much bigger problem.
>>
>>6954996

Okay, so this is guy is stupid and annoying and you don't like him. But, most of the problem is you going along with his flow. When he mentions hentai and ecchi, your response should have been "I don't like it, sorry," instead of pretending you're fine with it. If he continues talking about it, your response should have been to let him talk to himself until he's done/starts asking if you're still there, then reply with "Sorry I was getting a drink/sandwich/mom called/dog howled/full moon/etc" followed by a change of topic. Same with his compliments, if you don't want him to get the wrong idea, give a quick, blase reply ("oh okay", "I see, thanks", "that's nice") and change the topic.

If you're really at a loss how to redirect the topic, excuse yourself from the conversation with "Sorry I need to go do something." It's an online convo after all, you can continue browsing the net with skype turned off.

Like, girl, I understand you want everyone to like you, but sometimes you have to learn to shut them down or yes, the milder cases will want to date you and the worse cases will turn into real horror stories.

This, thank you!

I hate to see how these people interact in real life if they can't do so online, both parties(oh but that's what anime cons)

A lot of these sort of girls' problems are self inflicted, and it's not necessarily their faults, but it's really sad when they get backed into a corner and don't know how to get out, especially when the guy doesn't realize he's doing it.
>>
>>6954657
>That about it, I'm up for if anyone has any advice on this.

Post-con, tell him straight out you're not interested if he doesn't get the hint.

Guys, especially socially awkward ones, aren't good with hints, and appreciate directness.

I have a question for you, /cgl/.

How old is too old to cosplay? When do you start being 'the old guy'?

18? 20? 30?

Or do you think cosplay is an ageless activity? Does it depend on the group (IE: Homestucks tend to be mid teens)?
>>
I don't think it's how old you are, but how old you look.
>>
>>6955664 (OP)
Just go for characters that look the same age as you.
30 is too old for bishies, but is the right age for a Gordon Freeman, for instance.

Have any other cons pulled off any of this stuff?

I seriously hope the staff there pulls through and we finally get some answers.

I think Anime Vegas should just quietly die out. It hasn't improved since its debut. I've heard Animegacon was just as lack luster though too. Problem is all these anime cons trying to make their way in Vegas don't want to shell out the money for decent venues because A) most locals are cheap underage fags and B) out of towners don't want to waste their money traving to a subpar con. It's a no win situation. Just end it all.

Hi everyone. I need some serious help with what shampoo/condition/what the fuck I should do. I'm sick of hiding behind a wig everyday that I go out because my hair gets insanely greasy/oily. It pisses me off when I see girls at meet ups who have their natural hair which doesn't get greasy and filthy-looking like mine.

I shower at night, and when I wake up in the morning, my hair is greasy. I've showered in the morning as well, and it seems to get greasier even quicker (maybe due to how I'm up and about during the day).

The only solution I've had to fixing my greasy hair/scalp (I'm not sure if it's my scalp or my hair) is bleaching it, which I know completely destroys and dries out your hair. When I had blonde hair, I could go a week without showering and my hair would still be dry.

With my normal asian black hair, that just isn't the case. I've heard that washing your hair everyday is "bad" because it "wipes out all the natural oils thus producing more". Well, I tried not washing my hair (advice from a few months ago from a fellow seagull) for a month...

It was awful. About a week my head was itching like crazy and it smelled like shit. After a few hours from washing my hair, it gets greasy. After a month, my head my so itchy and greasy that when I washed it, the water was dirty-colored.

I'm sick of my parents bitching that I look like a filthy fucking bum because of how greasy my hair gets.

Attached photo is of hair which is not wet, it's greasy. The white specks isn't dandruff, it's babypowder, which is what I started using to dry it out.

I've ordered Redken dry shampoo spray and I'm going to try that out. But throughout the day where I'm in classes or going to a friend's house - I don't want to carry it everywhere.

I agree with this. Relaxed hair is soo much easier to live with.
I'm mixed and I had hair like my mom until I turned 2 and my hair decided to nig it up (thanks dad) . I never even learned what to do with black hair I just take it to the salon and let them work their hair voodoo. If it wasn't for the magic of relaxers I think I would have shaved my head years ago.

I had a friend who also cut off all her hair and tried to encourage me to do the same citing the worry over what was in relaxers.

I didn't and relaxed my hair for 3 more years. I was super afraid of looking stupid with curly hair and not knowing what to do with it. Last year I decided I needed to so something different because I had the same like 3 hairdos for 10 years. Why not learn what my real hair was like?
My sister is an avid hair maven and now she's going bald in front. I did not want that to happen to me even though I didn't do things to my hair that she did.

It took my scalp an entire year and a half to replace all the straight stuff. It was tough like all in between stages are. Wearing wigs is a great solution. I hope you come out of it as a curly beauty too. You can do it!

I wasn't any of the black/mixed anons that were previously posting so I'm not going to quote anyone. But, here's my little two sense about relaxers and going natural. For me relaxers made it harder to deal with my hair because you have to constantly get them and worry about breakage.

I just started going natural half a year ago myself and I've come across a lot of products that make black/mixed hair a lot easier if anyone wants to try them. Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree and Curls line of products are amazing. My hair is litterally the easiest thing to deal with now. It's always soft and curly. I don't have any good pictures of myself atm but here's me after I slept in dry rollers. It helps me blend my natural hair into my still relaxed parts. I personally do not want to do the big chop so I'll see how that goes for now.
>>
>>6955449
>Honestly though, relaxing is a lot more versatile/managable.
>>6955470
>Relaxed hair is soo much easier to live with.

My dad asked me a long time ago why I always relaxed my hair. I told him the same things you guys said. I said verbatim if I had to deal with natural hair I would just shave it off. Nobody has time for all that.
I continued to have the same misgivings as I grew my hair out. I just didn't know what the hell I was going to do with it.

Well now I have it and I can say not being versatile is a lie. Straight hair is easier to live with is also a lie.

I can do 5 more hairstyles with it than I could with my straight hair and I haven't even tried the flat twists, roll buns, or marley twist yet.
It's simple to live with cause I can keep the same style for 2-3 days or I can change it everyday. I sleep on it just as well as my straight hair. I can get it ready to do just as fast as I could with relaxed hair.
All that and I just wash it now. No need for another process. I can also dye my hair now if I want. You cannot dye relaxed hair. I also get less dandruff now too.

I think you get less dandruff because you wash it more often that with relxed hair. I noticed that with mine too.
With relaxed hair you also have to worry about things like it getting messed up if it gets wet etc.
I don't think I'm going to do the big chop I'll probably just trim my ends little by little.
It just grows so fast also because you don't have to worry about the up keep and breakage. I read somewhere that the reason a lot of black people can't get a long length is because of the breakage. It breaks off as it grows pretty much.

No, no, not at all, you've been very helpful!
Which funkspots count as more advanced and what kind of experience is usually needed? What kind of people are acceptable to ask to vouch for you? (Obviously parents and close friends are off limits)

Also, does anyone know anything about Akt? I am intrigued but doubt if they can press the prices enough for it to become relevant.

Well, the teams seen as more advanced are the ones that require that you have some actual skills in a certain area, for example in the documentation/photography team you need to know your way around a camera, and have proof that you are good at it (someone once gave a link to their instagram, and that resulted in an instant no), if you don't have any site that you upload your pictures to you could get a dropbox and share the link in the application.
If you do have the skills and you're confident in them then you should apply for those teams! You don't need to climb some ladder if you already have the skills for the "top position".
More examples of advanced teams:
>Stage
Stage-lights, sound, soundcheck, how to build a stage.
>Technology
Websites, network, electricity.
>Artist service (yes, i'm serious, you don't want a 14 year-old who is all over the place in such a team)
>Economy
Accounting, being trustable (don't want a d-bag to handle your money, now do you?)
>Security

I think someone that you have previously worked with, or that you just know briefly would be good to vouch for you, they're not too close to you so they won't feel like they have to lie. Also, if you know someone that knows the organizer of the team you're applying for - ask them to vouch for you, some organizers are lazy and if you give them a contact person that is just a click away (facebook etc) then you have a greater chance of getting accepted.

I use this one, and it's great. I have greasy skin, and it kinda makes it the perfect softness/smooth. I don't recommend this one for people with dry/regular skin. It has great sun protection too. It's slightly tinted, and it blends really well with my ultra-pale skin tone. So if you're skin is darker, I also don't recommend using this.
