Where does /cgl/ hang? Went by myself, cuz my friends ditch me at the last minutes. So lonely.
>>
Theres a clg meetup today i think its at 8. Go there if ur alone to make new friends. Its outside west hall. I might be wrong though.
>>
Personally, I'd put Taylor on blast for being a terrible manager and a liar to his face, but I've got actual work I'm doing this weekend.

I'm sure someone else will show up though. With all the staff/volunteer accounts of what happened, I'm sure some anon or anons will show up.

Con gripe is an excuse. No one gets to say anything criticizing since the goons shut people up.
>>
Someone please visit us in the West Hall weapons check booth. We're bored out of our mind. At least we got to laugh at Magumas gyno.
>>
Let's get everyone up to speed
>Long ass hours at reg
>Taylor fires someone for breaking a TV

What else did I miss?

Fire Marshall warnings, canceled events.

I've been passing you guys a lot
Maybe I'll say hi sometime this weekend

is clark cheating on his gf again this year?

So the Weapons Policy table has moved to the foyer in West Hall near the info booth.

Oh god the boredom. ;____;

Hey post how they fucked dealers on load in a couple years back. It was the year with vuvuzelas. That's why a lot dealers wont do that show. Ever since they left Anaheim, we make less money. LACC is a terrible location for a show as small as AX. Might as well suck dick to get into SDCC.

also thanks for posting this.

Again this is not me posting. Pic for proof.

Also, again, the offer still stands. you are all welcome to come to room 509B. You can even take off your badge before coming in if you don't want me to know your name.

I'm offering you a chance to talk with me face to face. No arguments, no yelling, no immaturity, just a straight up, calm talk between adults.

I'm here til 12AM tonight.

When does Pre-reg for next year start. I moved my badge but I want to upgrade to Premiere Pass.

Don't be a faggot Taylor and let people pre-reg for Premiere already during con. That's unfair to those who want to do Premiere and are not present.

What's up with all the extra security everywhere? My badge was being practically torn from my neck today to make sure it was legit down every hallway. Are there fake badges abound this year?
>>
>>6953700
I was wondering the same thing. Every time I walked into the dealers hall they inspected both sides of my badge. Didnt just glace, actually took my badge and took a good look on each side.
>>
I haven't heard any reports for fake badges.

I have heard that lots of cons have been changing their security policies ever since the Boston Marathon bombing, so maybe AX is following suit?

That's speculation on my part.
>>
>>6953763

That's understandable, but why are they focusing so much attention on badges in particular? That's what I want to know. I asked a girl on staff outside the "cosplay is consent" panel today and she said "they just told us to check the badges more closely".
>>
Staff was being incredibly bitchy over at last comic standing. They even were bitching at one of the DJ's for the dance in that line.
>>
Ok, this is me guessing again because for the record I'm a low tier staffer / non manager.

If you wanted to hurt an event you wouldn't want to pay to get into an event.

I'll try asking higher up the chain tomorrow.
>>
Staffer here. The bage checking thing came up because of a lady who was hosting a panel. I was at the door checking badges and she told me she overheard a lot of people on a bus (im guessing the shuttles) boasting about having fake badges and they were saying someone was giving them away for free. So i brought it to the attention of my superiors. Im on a shitty phone so excuse shit spelling or grammer if theres any.
>>
>>6953781

Oh, true.

I guess no one knows about the free exhibit-hall only badges after 4:30pm?
>>
>>6953788

Interesting, I haven't seen anyone get escorted out for fake badges yet, but I'll camp out by the main gates and take pictures if it happens.
>>
>>6953790

>low tier staff/non manager
>helps organize/run conji

fuck you man, your con was shit this year. i heard you were going to jump ship after conji this year, i'm surprised you're still hanging around.
>>
I don't plan to be management.

Finally! a direct attack, I can take that off my bucket list.

I'm not happy about Conji either but anytime someone quits because changes or lack of changes they're eventually forgotten. Can't change the system without contact with the system.

No plans to be management during 2014 for SPJA events though. I need a break. I became a div head in January so I had 4 months to do my job. After people were fired / quit I stepped up into the gap. That was fucking painful lol.
>>
>>6954227

I respect folks that don't actively pursue management positions aggressively. I look forward to the next power vacuum, sadly. My path has me going upward, but I've been making good friends along the way. Win or lose, it's been one hell of a ride seeing people come and go, crash and burn occassionally, as well as the wonderful people I've met along the way.
>>
The badges this year are a joke. They do have a security strip on the side but it only there to prevent photo copying. But sadly if you have some skill with a camera you can photograph it and it will look real. Who ever decided that a piece of paper would be super secure should not be creating badges.

The bag check today is a joke as well. There is many places that are not guarded at all thus defeating the check. I am not sure if they are calling it security or just a pain in the ass.
>>
We're about halfway through con, how much sphagetti has been spilled so far.
>>
>>6954227
I think you should let Conji go. I know that's your con, but as long as the SPJA has a firm grip on it, it's just going suck ass.

Tell me, whose bright idea was it to raise one day badges during con? Was it you?

In a span of one year, Anime Conji overall just sucked.

Again, I'm feel sorry how the SPJA treating it.
>>
what's the deal with the djs at the dance? can they not afford good ones now or something because one of the better things at ax is now one of the worst.

also the amount of weebs doing the fucking conga line during the dance has increased

>>
I gave my suggestions months in advance for badge prices. All the last minute changes were made higher than me.

I'm now in con ops. I'm going to lodge the security complaints in our suggestion database.
>>
>>6954379
you'd think that with all the yolo swag bullshit they'd play more music than just electro non stop. I don't mind it but variety when it comes to music would be really nice
>>
Why the fuck do they keep letting that Magic Macabre shit back every year?
>>
>>6953117
well there's also the long lines, but I'm guessing that's more of a symptom than a root cause.
>>
>>6953704
>>6953700

they just looked at the front of my badge for most places. one lady at the south hall escalators reached out and flipped my badge over to see the front, but i didn't mind, just didn't expect it.

premiere pass lets you go to the front of many lines, including badge pickup and many panels, plus you get one or two free concert tickets. im not sure if it comes with anything else.

This year and last year had some mediocre guests that is hardly enough to warrant to buy any. People buy them now and hold on to it, only to be dissapointed at the end.
>>
>>6955411
I'm not sure if they did it this year but you get to go in one hour early into the Exhibit Hall on Day 1 while everyone else has to wait.
>>
Premiere's best strength is that it lets you skip lines. The free ticket is a bonus. At $100 it was no brainer. $175 and you have to think about it, or maybe not, considering all the goddamn lines this year. You're basically paying $100 extra for the perk (figuring $45 for the cheapest 4-day, $30 for a main event ticket, leaving the rest as extra). For some people this is well worth the price especially if you want to go to multiple panels. If you don't do panels, it's not worth it. If you want autographs it might be worth it as you get to go in early on Day 1 and on the other days not too much earlier but early enough that you can zoom on over to the autograph area.

You can bet if SDCC had a premier badge that let you skip lines for $400 or some shit people would buy it. Hall H? Ballroom 20? Fuck those lines.

>>
Bump

AX is pretty much finished for many. How was your overall con experience?
>>
>>6955886

Panel lines and autograph lines were managed pretty poorly, and a decent amount of staff could rarely answer my questions, there was always a "maybe" or "I think" somewhere in the sentence. One of the translators at a guest panel also butchered my question, which I figured after receiving a random response from her that had nothing to do with what I asked. She seemed to stumble with other questions too and projected poorly.

I honestly think the best part of the trip was the JW, great hotel and a good price with the convention deal. I may be skipping out on AX for Otakon next year, I think it may be time to try something else big for summer, AX just isn't what it used to be as far as I'm concerned.
>>
>>6955886
As of now, the exhibit hall closes in 3 and a half hours. I think I can still make it in time to find a good wallscroll or something. I feel disappointing with the merch i'm seeing... I might as well stop by Anime Jungle tomorrow or something and see how the prices change overnight, hah.
>>
seriously? What is wrong with AX staff lately? I'm reading the thread and all I see are comments about harassment, verbal fights, yelling, cursing happening and pending lawsuits upon staff? this is the most fucked up thing I have read and no matter if stress is at all all time high, problems happened with other people or what not...LEAVE THEM AT HOME AND BE RESPECTFUL OF EVERYONE. >Allison-chan
Fired the Manager of Cosplay Events because the two could not agree on how the Masquerade should be runned. Thus, the Masquerade was full of spaghetti
>>
Need photo of that cunt Allison McKnight.

>>
Thought I post this before good ol' face book deletes a thread

Joe - my friend, the Manager of cosplay events at AX, was fired in front of his staff by Allison McKnight, Director of Entertainment, and escorted out of the con by security in front of fellow staff and attendees alike. The reason being is that they could not agree on how masquerade and cosplay should be run. Regardless of the reason, there is no excuse for that show of force and embarrassment. This is how AX is now run. I'm saddened and horrified this has happened but from what I'm starting to hear, this is only the beginning. Needless to stay, Tony's staff quit in protest, which shows their character. I thought I would never say this, but AX has gotten even worse since Lattanzio left, which says a lot. I know this will get deleted soon but I thought people should know.

Brent - this is sad.... well who ever this "Allison McKnight" is she's now on the the AX Fans SHIT LIST!! Hey Joe you should repost this on the message boards/ or there other Facebook AX related threads.... this is totally unfair, and yes it seems that ax has been "unprepared" on certain panels\activities\events, and seem to make it up as they go.... they have a whole year to plan this stuff out.....

Daniel - Arent most of the ax people volunteers? How do you fire a volunteer?

Joseph - They give out more prizes after the manager is fired? Sounds like a manager was messing up.

Chris- I DONT KNOW THE WHOLE STORY BUT THAT PERSON OBVIOUSLY WRONGED THE OTHER PERSON SO IM GOING TO GRAB MY TORCH AND PITCHFORK!! Seriously? This isnt the place for that kind of con drama bull shit.
Like · Reply · a few seconds ago via mobile

Luis - Firing someone like that is wrong and unethical. People like that always let the power go to their heads.

Emily - Yeah, too bad you guys fucked up and my friend didn't get to do her masquerade skit. Seriously, get your shit together, AX.

I've been attending cons for like.. 15 years now.
Only in one situation has the person running the show ever been even a remote consideration, and that's because it was Anime Reactor and the guy running it was a notorious drunk who fucked with con programming and scheduling whenever he felt like it because he was drunk off his ass.

The staff was nuts this year. I heard there were hundreds of bans.

My group was threatened with being taken to con ops 3 times in one night by staff that just felt like being dicks. One kept craning his neck and getting in my face like he was the tough guy of anime cons.

I heard the complaints discussions over at AX's site is massive, and just loaded with staff complaints as well.
