So much griping about this con. where was I doing the jew hate? Only two people I spoke to during the entire con said their were pissed about the other convention.

Yea, I didn't have a problem with the other convention at all. Yes, you got a few glares or snide remarks from some kids or chaperones but that shit happens anyway. People need to learn to just play it cool and not add fuel to the fire, and I mean everyone.

The only major inconvenience for me was not being able to use either hallway that faced the parking garages. I took my luggage down to my car late Saturday and discovered they had somehow disabled the locks on those doors - you couldn't use your hotel key card to swipe back in like you could in previous years if the doors were locked, so walking around the front of the hotel in high winds was annoying as fuck. Minor inconveniences would be BBYO attendees jumping into elevators to go up 1 floor like from the atrium to the lobby/lobby to the ballroom level when they could've gotten to their floor much quicker with the escalators.

While I didn't have problems, I think it was a rather caustic mix because you have two groups largely composed of teenagers and young twenty-somethings who REALLY suck at handling unfamiliar social situations (re: sharing a space with people you're not familiar with who have a different purpose of being there than you do). Katsucon had always been shared the Gaylord's space with conventions attended by adults (the Christian marriage one, the military ball *which I really liked talking to those guys they had amazing stories*, the janitorial cleaning stuff one, etc.) Yes there were also large groups of student athletes but there again, those were by no means the same scale as the BBYO convention. I think it was just a massive mix of immaturity on either side + segregating things and making it seem like their group would be tainted if they talked to a Katsucon attendee only added fuel to the fire. It's a shame people can't learn to chill the fuck out before blowing things up that were not even an issue before.

I saw more bbyo attendees on the katsucon floor than I saw at their own convention. Friday they were everywhere! It was actually endearing that they were interested enough to wander the con floor than feel uncomfortable. Then Friday night I saw bbyo chaperones gaurding escalators and elevators making sure that the kids didn't enter katsucon anymore.
Id agree that this was just blown out of proportion because of the gazebo that was later opened to the katsucon attendees. There was a lot of places anyone could have had shoots besides the gazebo. There was a lovely patio outside of the hotel that was unoccupied and was pretty when the weather was nice.
