I want to make a royal derringer, but I want it to be a decent size. I see a lot that have flat blades and handles, but I'd prefer something that doesn't look like a sheet of paper.

Any suggestions for what to make the blade out of? And for the handle, should I just use a dowel and build around that?

Quick question HSG, my friend wants me to run an artist alley table with her at a very small, local con. Now I can only do 3D crafts, such as bows, hair clips, animal ears, etc. What was the new rules on selling Homestuck stuff again?

I stopped following Halftruths tumblr a long time ago, and I can't find the update rules.

It's just in case I make any hairclips that might have the kids symbols, as I know I can get away with zodiac ones.

I just learned that some people thought I was snobbish in my Dolorosa cosplay at Youmacon, because I had my chin up and didn't talk much.

I promise I was very happy to see everyone, I had to keep my head tilted up to keep the collar of the armour piece from digging into my neck and rubbing my makeup (it's semi-rigid), and I don't talk much because I'm just shy. I'm sorry if I made anyone uncomfortable, I don't bite, I swear!

I'm struggling picking my shoes for my Rufioh cosplay. My pants for him are skinny jeans.

For the boots, they make me a solid 6'0 in height and I've removed most of the buckles to cut down on the goffick feel of them. They have red stitching.

For the sneakers, I'm using red shoelaces with it, but I'll be 5'8.

I actually posted my new wig here a little while ago, and got some pointers on makeup and making the wig look better and such. Pic attached.

It seems that quite a lot of people on here aren't fond of PJ, or some of my other panelists. However, I stand behind my choices. Based on the auditions we received, Dave (co-panel runner) and I chose those who we felt were the strongest actors first and foremost, strongest cosplayers secondarily. To be completely honest, I do not give a flying fuck about how well-known or unknown someone is; I just want to put on a decent panel and for my audience to enjoy themselves.

Well, yes. As I stated, I really don't care at all what a panelist's reputation is so long as they work hard and are professional. If, for example, PJ (or any other panelist) were to come to rehearsal and start making racist/sexist/homophobic/whathaveyou remarks, then I'd have an issue. It's the same issue I'd have if one of my panelists showed up drunk, or dropped all lines of communication, or any of a dozen other potential scenarios. I ask that my panelists act professionally, and so long as they are able to demonstrate their ability to do so, I really don't care what sort of reputation they have, even at the potential risk of losing a handful of audience members.

A few friends had some bad experiences with her bandwagon jumping from Hetalia to Homestuck.

She has really strong (and in my opinion stupid) ideals which makes her hard to get along with. She hung out with a Rose cosplayer a year ago and then dropped her for V-A and then kinda moved on to Vikki after that. She leaves peoples company when she finds better cosplayers, but she still occasionally talks to people she used to know so she doesn't look like a jerk.

She's not terrible but she has terrible habits.

I've heard rumors about PJ being racist and at one point homophobic, but since I've never seen any evidence of this firsthand, I can't base my assessment of his personality on that. However, I can say that he rubs me the wrong way because he's just your average sixteen year old tumblr brat in the fandom. He's immature, and it shows, but hopefully he'll grow out of it and grow up as he gets older. If he can put on a good performance for the panel, more power to him. I can dislike a cosplayer but still give credit where credit is due, and if he does well, good on the cast and good on him.

If you really want to stop people being pissed at your panel you can do what I did, I released the number of auditions we had. Not the names or anything, but when people see that I got two auditions for a character, they stop being mad for casting someone I know/a local BNF because they assume that the other audition is awful which generally it is. Most of the time people get irked because they think you were swamped with auditions and chose your friends. When, at least most of the time with me, it's between a BNF and some really mediocre cosplayers. Everyone in Florida is an attention slut who gets mad anytime they aren't casted in anything because they can't accept that they suck so I feel for you reading this thread. I hope your panel goes well.

Yeah but cons can accept and decline any panels they want. If you come up with a good concept and pitch your panel well enough, yours can make it over the current staple panel runners. I just started applying for panels that I wanted to do and sometimes mine get picked over panels that have been there like two years. Oh my god yes everybody is constantly fighting over running photoshoots and panels and who's in what panel and everyone has to run THEIR panel and have THEIR event but they all run it like shit. The only people who run good events are seerofsarcasm and whoever has been running the central florida promstucks at every con for the past like year and a half. Ive yet to go to a good event run by someone else.

Shout out to all the Homestucks who were at Arisia this past weekend, y'all looked great. I couldn't stay for the panel but I hovered around it for a few moments at one point and it seemed like it went really well. I thought it was a particularly good con in general, this year.

That's because few people seem to understand how difficult it is to control the 200+ chimpanzees that are ever present.
Also a big problem with Florida panels is everyone drops from them last minute. I've been in several panels and only once did no one drop out at the very last minute. It's absolutely ridiculous and very few people are reliable for anything.
Ashley is good at running the shoots because she can control everyone, for the most part. There is a very short list of people who should be permitted to run Homestuck photoshoots in Florida

I was considering running a photo-shoot at a smaller, local convention. But then I realized I would probably get yelled at to the tune of "BUT WE'RE DOING IT SCREECH". I mean christ, at least I have experience controlling groups of 150+ people, not like I'm just jumping into it like some people do.
