and styrene are two different types of plastic. Sintra is just a brand
name for PVC- other brands are Celtec and Komatex. Komatex is horrible
to cut because it has more air in it than the other brands (so it shreds
and cracks, seriously, the stuff is balls), but that might make it
easier to heat-form. Sintra is the densest, so I imagine it would be the
most durable. I've never worked with styrene, but I do know that it
will yellow after it's been in the sun for a while. That's not really
relevant to armor-making, but I'm a signfag so I have to know that for
my job.

know, that's actually what I'm stuck on too. As far as I can tell you
can sculpt and sand it, but I've never worked with it so I'm not sure. I
guess we both need to do more research, haha.

foam is awesome. I think the appeal of pvc armor is that it's more
durable...and yes, there is a macho element to it. I have to admit I'm
intimidated. |
