I require prescription lenses, so chances are the contacts will cost as much or more than the costume (except for the like, two really expensive costumes I've done, but still, not worth it)

    >>2520703
Also, this, wtf. Chances are they aren't wearing a wig or the costume itself is some crap from eBay.

    I love you, IRL Samus.
I don't consider contacts too important, though I would wear them for unnaturally-colored eyes if I could.

On topic post: since I'm a miserly fuck, I definitely can't afford to buy a new set of contacts for every character I play. However, I am planning on buying some brilliant blue contacts to be used for several characters. The way I see it, contacts are worth buying if you can get a lot of mileage out of them.

I'd be using blue contacts for Utena, Zack, Cloud, Roxas, maybe Sora, Black Rock Shooter, Link, and possibly Fang (though I'd need something closer to grey for her). For $30 and at least seven characters, that's a reasonable purchase.

What is so wrong with timeless trends? If you happen to fit their standard sizes, the corsets are made extraordinarily well, and come at a great price (for the underbusts). I can see how some people may have issues with not being able to get a custom busk length...but from a quality standpoint, what's the problem?

Combination of spirals and flats, two part grommets, busk, three layers of fabric (two of which are stregth layers). Yeah, that sounds about right to me.

I own a couple of the tt underbusts. I've worn them multiple times. They are solid garments. As a side note, I'd say they're just as good, if not better, than Voller's corsets that I've encountered over the years.

I pose a question /cgl/ Has any of you worked with Expanding foam?

I am looking to use it to build a prop and it will be my first time working with foam to make it. Any advice is appreciated.

Also, I will be making a bladed type weapon so any tips on how to make it looks like is sharp and glossy is good.

KAMUI, GET THE FUCK IN HERE.

Also, dude, I've worked with it once. It was an arduous process because I didn't know what I was doing, but I've wised up since then. I carved it with a large kitchen knife and then sanded it down to what I wanted. Then I filled the largest holes in the foam with more foam, and the smaller stuff with wood filler. It's stuff used to fill nicks and cuts and mars in wooden furniture. Then I waited for all that to dry, sanded it to how I wanted it, and put about a dozen layers of fiberglass resin on it, sanding between coats. It needed details so I made those out of Sculpey, and put them on with caulking. I put a final coat of fiberglass over the entire thing and then painted and weathered it.

Pic is finished product. I did not use the Corvette as a work table.

More importantly, how is the weight distributed (are you holding in the middle like a staff or at the end like a sword), and how wide is the blade? Can you post a pic?

In this case, put a rod through the entire sword (from where the pommel starts to the tip of the sword). It'll be important to give it a good framework because even though expanding foam is fairly lightweight stuff, you're still going to have a lot of weight focused on the point where the handle and the blade meet, and if you have someone bump into you the wrong way you'll have an irreparable prop.
I'd rather have Kamui drop in with better tips, but quick and dirty I'd say create a 3-D 'box' of the design (can be a bit bigger), fill it with foam and cut down from there with a box cutter.
    Good luck!

here's a ref, also for my cosplay i used Grease paint, the stuff smears if you don't seal it with hairspray or with some other kinds of make up powders (i forgot what the fuck it's called cus i lost the stuff my friend gave me at ALA last year...) and i've even gotten wet and it stays on fairly well. Takes a SHIT TON of scrubbing to come off though, i suggest clorox wipes.

    haha oh wes.

It could use a bit more organization but it still requires everyone to take some initiative, most of the people who do attend the cgl gatherings are trip/namefags, so we all generally know eachother, if you're anon you have to take a bit of an extra step cus how else do we know that you're here for the cgl gathering besides just asking at random?

and yes besides us who are being rouwdy and goofy there are the ones who were just chillin and standin around like Da0, DurrKaiser (sp?), Jacuzzi, Hanyaan, and many others. Next cgl gathering just step on in and chat~ we all are lookin to meet new people and make new friends.

-challenge a woman to a belching contest
-sing a Wesker-ized version of "Part of Your World" with my RE group
