So, /cgl/ I was thinking of doing a Tamaki Cosplay and found a suit that appears good in pictures but I don't really know. Does anyone on here have any experience with cosplaymagic.com? I tried google but half of the reviews were great and the other half were terrible so I was hoping someone had some personal experience.

Uniform in question:

That is one of the better ones ive seen but for 100+ dollars you could easily get yourself a nice suit and have it tailored to fit you. The thing about these ouron cosplays that always annoy me are the ill-fitting jackets
>>
cosplaymagic what you see is what you get basically
the only issue is usually flimsy seams/buttons/etc and they only do standard sizing (I think you can get custom sizing for like 50 bucks extra or something)
>>
I did Kyoya Ootori last year.
I bought my suit on Milanoo. It waqs $45 at the time (now I think it's $37)
It's cheap material, but it fit well and it hasn't fallen apart.

Milanoo is a crapshoot. Occasionally you get something okay but it's usually shitty, as many, many people could testify. It's not worth taking the risk. Avoid it, OP.

I have purchased a costume from them before, and my brother owns two (one of which was a suit, Suzaku from Code Geass) All the costumes have been okay, (as another anon said) very much what you see is what you get.

They don't tend to fit -really- well since they are built to default sizes, but seams are finished properly, garments are lined, and they don't fall apart. Sometimes the fabric choices are weird (spandex in place of cotton) but still well sewn.

They are bad about sewing buttons, snaps, and hooks/eyes so if you have some hand sewing experience that would be good. All the snaps and hooks on my Anya cosplay fell off and had to be redone, and my brother had a similar problem.

Also if you are short expect to get things tailored. My brothers 6' 4" and his stuff almost needed to be hemmed. I had to tailor pieces of my costume shorter and i'm tall too. The sizes in general run large aside from bootcovers which are ridiculously tiny (not that's an issue for you).

They are OK. Be prepared to receive what you see in the picture but nothing better. I think the bad reviews are mostly caused by people with high expectations.

Alright, so from you responses I've decided to get something custom made mainly because my height (5'7) but also because I want something that actually looks quite nice. So new question! How do I into commissioning?
>>
I'm pretty sure I bought a Jaden Yuki jacket from them a couple years ago.

I still have it too, it lasted me through a lot of different conventions.

Do something that isn't overdone and boring.

Well, if you want it to look nice buy yourself a pair of tuxedo pants that fit well and a collared shirt. They are generic enough that you can find them somewhat cheaply. (if I were you I would go to Khols armed with coupons and get them there really cheap)

All you should actually have to commission is the jacket. Which is easier said then done since jackets are one of the most difficult things to make. Most costume/cosplay commissioners out there have experience with making more outlandish things, but a well tailored jacket might be challenging for them.

I'm not sure if cosplay.com is actually working right now but you could look through commissioner listings to find someone experienced in the field you need, then check reviews here http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=105758.

Your best bet might be getting the jacket through cosplaymagic and getting it altered by a tailor. They'll be able to...well, tailor it to your body and make it look good. I've emailed cosplaymagic in the past and they were willing to break costume sets up and sell me individual pieces for a good price.
