im usually not in favor of the whole "asian cosplay SUPERIOR" thing, but the lucky star character design makes it hard for Westerners to pull it off well.

It feels like Konata is the only character that can properly be emulated in 3D. All other cosplays of other LS characters just look...weird, even when they're not actually bad or inaccurate. Why is that?

Why do most, if not all, of these Konata cosplayers go for wigs that are really dark compared to the hue in the show? It bugs me to no end.

I have a question guys
I'm really tall, but I fucking love Konata and I am dying to cosplay as her.
I plan on only wearing it for a photoshoot by myself (since I would look fucking weird walking around at a con) and I was wondering if you have any advice for appearing not as tall in my photos?

Sit down or bend the legs during shots. Birds angle view (make sure the camera is a little bit higher than you) if you can. Try that out and see what works for you.

thanks I was also wondering if sizing the costume to fit me a bit on the bigger-side would help?
not making it baggy or anything really, but lengthening the sleeves and skirt to hide how long and lanky my limbs are?

I've seen white girls pull off Miyuki pretty well. I agree with you on the rest for the most part, although the most adorable Konata I ever saw was a white girl.

i agree with what other people are saying, though. lucky star characters don't translate that well into 3D, though i think miyuki tends to look best as she looks older. whether they're white or asian OR attractive or not, i find the younger looking ones always look better overall. a few women in this thread look way too old to be cosplaying these girls (who, to me, look much younger than they actually are)

seriously, I have seen many adorable Konata cosplayers but some of them were really pale, I wish that there were more tanned Konata cosplayers

Lucky Star tends to look weird when translated into 3D probably because of the art style, the girls look 10 years younger than they actually are.
Mind I've seen photos of this Konata cosplayer that actually looked very similar to the original 2D version (tanned, short etc) but she looked kind of weird, I mean she was cute and all but something about her creeped me out, I just can't put my finger on it

the only time i've seen really amazing lucky star cosplayers in real life was at anime north. twin asian girls (or girls who randomly looked eerily similar in the face + the same height and body type) who seriously looked like 13-14 were cosplaying kagami and tsukasa. they used their real hair... but the kagami actually had super long twin tails and the tsukasa had an identical short haircut.

Not only that, but cosplayers train themselves more to look GOOD in a photoshoot and I think Lucky Star characters look better when they're being ridiculous or actually doing things--not poses. That's tricky because there's a lot of art where they're pretty much hanging out and doing nothing, so it's easier to fall into poses or whatever looks most flattering. It's really hard to train yourself out of that

I think this goes for any SOL series

If you're used to pose in each photo, looking "normal" or not in pose may be difficult because you never know what face you're actually making or how flattering that pose is
I like cute poses like OPs photo but emulating poses from the anime is even better
Konata is probably the easiest one to cosplay in terms of being in character as well because if you like the series, chances are that you're also into some of the same things she's into so it could come more naturally to pose like her or imitating her

Man, this thread makes me want to cosplay Konata. Although, I'll probably let my friend be her, she's more suited power level-wise. Also, for some reason I'm sad noone does the Timotei movement, it was so funny in the anime...
