It's very simple. If a girl is hot and not crazy she'll be popular and in regular scenes. That's the default position for a hot girl. If the girl is hot but mental then she'll be outcast just as an ugly girl will be and she'll wind up in niché scenes such as cosplay.

I used to go to school with her. I can confirm she's crazy. When Harry Potter came out, she was convinced she was his otherkin or some shit, like she was actually him in a past life. Chopped off all her super long hair and dressed like him everyday.

She tended to do this for any character she cosplayed, I seem to remember her going through this with both Misato from Evangelion, and Ichigo from Tokyo Mew mew.

She was a shrieking fame whore at conventions, but then again most famous cosplayers are.

Her costumes are pretty nice though. But she's batshit crazy

Like I said in my post, I went to school with her, and some conventions, mostly Jacon and metrocon.

Also went to an anime club with her held at some 30 something ladies house with the infamous Roy of Metrocon. It was somewhat unnerving to watch him and his other middle aged friends pretty much salvatate over these highschool girls at every meeting. They got together and watched awful girlie anime, and would plan out their weddings and their ideal dresses. I remember Andrea being really big into "remaining pure" until her wedding, and never having sex before that.

They were all pretty naive, and I don't know how they couldn't have noticed Roy leering over them the whole time. But then again, I was a year or two older and pretty cynical.

Eh, I don't have any terrifying stories about her, mostly just her desperate need for attention and really weird otherkin character obsession.

I did an promo event with her a few years ago for a con and I remember she pitched a fit because someone else signed up to cosplay the same character as her, and she kept throwing dirty looks to the girl - like it really mattered? She also bought a costume from WindoftheStars to cosplay CJ's "leading lady" from his webcomic thing to wear for a photoshoot even though he had already told her he wasn't interested in her.
