I'm not going to Otakon this year. Moving out of my apartment and into a new one. Besides I need a break and going three years in a row, I want to go somewhere different for a Con or save my money for a trip.

Going to my first Otakon ever with my fiance, LittleJelloSalad and Kiwi! Currently working on my Blue Rose hero suit that I'm entering into the Saturday Hall Costume Contest. I haven't gotten a look at the panels yet, but I tend not to go for those anyway. I like hang out more with friends while in cosplay and doing photoshoots together.

Too excited. My costumes are really starting to come together and I think maybe I won't be scrambling day before the convention this year! Really excited for my costumes too. Parasoul and Acty Aries in particular.

I'm so excited! This will be my 9th year! I didn't really attend any panels last year since the lines were horribly long for all the ones I wanted to see.. but this year I might go to a few.. at least late night ones since I don't attend the raves.

Mega goes to, I want to saw White Marsh, which isn't too far from Baltimore. I do know however that it still goes to DC, and DC to Baltimore isn't a bad trip at all. Just take the Metro to Union Station (less then $3 is not during rush hour) then take the MARC train ($7) from Union Station to Penn Station or Camden Yards if it's during rush hour. If you take the train to Camden yards you can walk in like less then 5 minutes from there to the Baltimore convention center. Taking the MARC to Penn catch the Light Rail ($1.60) to the Baltimore convention center stop. It's honestly not that bad and since I am unable to drive it's my method getting between Baltimore and Washington DC once to twice a month. (pfft I just did it two hours ago). I am sure there is a Baltimore bus that will take you from White Marsh to a light rail station/bus station that you can get to the Inner Harbor from too.

If you want you can email me and I'll be more then happy to help you out with mapping a route. I don't have a car so I know the cheapest ways to get up and down the east coast.

Well what are you interested in? Otakon's a pretty decent con with stuff for basically almost everyone. Though things can get crowded and for certain events you may want to line up a little earlier then usual. It's kind of a family con, though by 9/9:30 a lot of the under 18s are cleared out/head up to the rave.

I hate drunk tards at anime cons.
One incident in Otakon for example sparked my fuel of rage to want to almost murder someone. Of course I happen to be a tall semi buff male but not the kind to pick fights usually. But I do have the problem of having a rotten temper and I am not good with being patient with others as well as tolerate stupid fucktards. So basically these drunk assholes who I assume were posssibly younger than me seeing as I am like 26 started talking some shit out of their asses which I can't seem to understand. I was walking with like 2 other guys who were my mates and of course my nice girlfriend when they just out of nowhere kinda started talking stupid shit which we couldn't even understand and personally I was tempted to deck em in the face at their stupid comments and flirting with the girl I was with. Of course my bros had to hold me down and not let me put them in their fucking place. That was the first time I felt like almost killing someone. Hey guys sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if I could get get some advice. I'm doing a fairly large Homestuck shoot (21 members) and am doing the shoot away from the con; however, the shoot is a picnic and we are making it open to the rest of the fandom as a pot luck of shorts before our Friday shoot.

Now I know there will be a copious amount of us as last year was bad enough. The 4th floor is being used at the time I want to hold this (1pm Friday). I know a lot of con goers are sick of seeing Homestuck cosplayers everywhere. So I was hoping for suggestions on where we should go that would be most out of the way of everyone and the least disruptive. Preferably not outside? Thank you.

In 2010 I got some of my first time friends in by photo copying my pass at a office depot LOL.

I've been going since 04 and this will be my first year not going. 50 is a reasonable price for what they dish out. 80 is not. There is no good programming, the venue is far too small for the convention itself and even if you don't care, guests do matter. Getting to see some of the bands and singers I like at AX was well worth it's price, as opposed to Otakon which has raised their prices every year for no reason.

Otakon renewed their contract with BCC a couple years ago. BCC is charging Otakon more money now for the space. A buddy of mine who works for Otakon, says between the rent they pay BCC, the BCC union fees, the liability insurance they have to have in case something happens, lawyer fees, the extra security they hire, the full time paid staff members, advertisement, guests expenses, and other misc expenses. It costs them a couple million to run that convention every year. Most of the money they collect for this year's Otakon, will actually be used for next year's Otakon.

I somehow missed this thread until now. Re-wearing Napoleon on Friday, and debuting Marika on Saturday. I've been working a lot of Marika recently and i'm SO excited to get it done and worn.For Sunday I'd like to cosplay Sheryl, ideally I would make the variant pictured in time- but that's looking a bit bleak so I might just rewear a different version.

I haven't really looked into panels just yet, i'm a "figure out the schedule a day before hand" type of person. Probably won't make it to the meetup.
