  • Attention 4chan extension/user script/archive developers: Some time in the next few days, we'll be rolling out a complete HTML rewrite of the imageboards.
The design will remain the same, but the underlying HTML/CSS is completely new, and validates HTML5/CSS3 (with some tweaks to account for cross-browser compatibility).

Please visit this thread to read more about the changes, and here to preview the code.

As a regular user, these changes should not affect you. You will need to update your 4chan browser extensions/user scripts when their maintainer updates them to be compatible with the changes.
The official 4chan Chrome extension will be ready to go when the updates happen, and 4chan X should be ready soon. We'll post more details on the day of the migration!

The worst part about people who call themselves "gentleman", "lady", "empress", etc and pretend to be aristocrats with refined tastes is that they always wear ill-fitting, cheap-looking shit. Bitch, if you are so aristocratic, splurge on some decent clothes. Same for the men who pretend to be refined gentlemen of exquisite tastes and look like Tuxedo Mask.

The fat tends to bring the dress up/shorten it also removing the illusion of an hourglass. The chubbier features tend to make them look more childish, and proportionately they just look awkward with the knee high socks being midcalf.

I've seen some awesome replica coords though, and some amazing chubby lolitas, but to the girls with 30-something inch waists wearing pastel AP replicas, that shit is hard to pull off with a 24" waist, darker colours and more mature prints will suit you a hell of a lot better.

Well no shit Sherlock? Do you honestly want to see a 40inch waist person try to squeeze themselves into a 26 inch original dress?
Are you trying to say that fat girls can't have lolita stuff unless they make their own clothes or buy ridiculously expensive indie?
This slays me: Then when they wear indie you call them 'ita' because they're usually not decked out in popular prints.
That just makes you a typical brandwhore bitch. I'm sorry.

People like you bitch when fatties are in brand, and you bitch when they're not having brand.
No fashion is a "special snowflake" fashion.
And I'm really hoping there's going to be a brand with the balls someday that will make their dresses all the way up to a size fuckin' 40 just to spite every single one of you who think this way.
I hope fatties ruin your fashion. I really wish that upon you. And maybe when you see how immature all of it is anyway over clothes you'll grow a sense of humility and maturity.

I agreed with everything except "have the balls to make 40 ich waist" lol wut? Plenty of western indie brands do that why should a japanese brand be more cowardly when they don't even have a population that size and aren't even that concerned with western clients! Besides girls up to a 35 waist can fit into much of the fully shirred brand dresses. What I hate with fatties is that they always complain about fashion not catering to them or being more expensive. Well more fabric costs more! It costs money to look good for anyone not just fatties either. It's not about Gavin the balls to make clothing for girls with larger waist lines, they just don't care. You want it bad enough get something custom made and shut the fuck up.

This. Bigger lolitas who bitch about brand sizing should start supporting brands who do cater to their size, if they wanna see more larger lolita clothes. Apart from Baby, AP, IW and Meta having produced quite a few bigger dresses, there are brands like Atelier Pierrot and Chantilly who not only fit, but SUIT bigger girls. How many fatty-chans who bitch actually buy them? IW made an LL blouse, how many Western girls bought it? If there isn't a market, why should brands produce more larger clothes?

    >bigger girls didn't buy them

Because they were ugly as SIN dresses with full shirring and other atrocious crap that makes fatties look even worse. Pic related. They use shirring instead of just using regular cloth and increasing the price because they still want to cater to thinner girls who might buy it, which is stupid because even skinny girls know they look like shit. And it's the same shit with blouses. These companies don't want to limit a kind of blouse just to bigger girls because they know that there aren't as many fatties, and so they put out frilly, shirred ita-monster blouses that can stretch from thin to fat because they're looking for profit. Full shirred (or fuck, even partial sheered) blouses do not flatter fatties. It makes them look huge.

I'm glad BtssB fell on their face with that one, they deserve it for being greedy whores.

    This.
There probably would be an increased market for bigger people if those bigger people knew they could get the same kind of clothing as those marketed for skinny girls.
Why is it a favorable fashion for bigger people if all they can expect to buy is a bunch of shirred stuff that doesn't flatter them, or only be limited to JSKs? And really, except for maybe two brands, no girl with a 35+ inch waist, a 40+ bust, and chubby arms is going to get much else.
So it makes sense to buy a replica.

Many bigger girls also complain about the higher prices to have dresses that suit them. Look at all the indie brands that do plus sized clothing and how many complaints they get because they are too expensive. Some don't seem to understand that more cloth=higher prices.

What? Btssb released a few dresses in LL with only quarter shirring, like the pocket embroidery dress for example. That was a beautiful dress that came in 4 sizes. And atelier pierrot and chantilly are made to be flattering to bigger girls, as their designer is a bigger girl herself.

But that makes no sense. Different clothes look better on different body types. You said it yourself how it doesn't flatter them, even if it might fit. Shirring, boob loaf, etc. are all part of that. Larger women shouldn't be trying to find the same clothes in a different size, they should be looking for different clothes in their size.

No, nobody is going to pay $270+ for an indie brand skirt with average quality cloth.
I'm sure more fatties with -sense- or at least the ones I've talked to, can understand paying an extra $20-50 for additional measurements because of the use of extra cloth.
But no, charging a plus-size garment an extra $100 just for the sake of it being plus size is unacceptable in a business sense. You cannot explain that other than greed and elitism.

    >>5794269
I'm laughing at how you think that rufflebutt mess would be flattering on a fat girl. The girl in that pic is chubby at best, but bigger girls should be wearing more simple styles with as little ruffles and bows as possible.

The reason brands don't care about fatties it because they don't care much about their foreign customers in general. Japanese people are really small, and those that are very fat have enough sense to realize they look stupid in lolita and don't bother wearing it.

I think fatty chan lolis can look nice but they just have a lot more work to do than skinny chicks. If you're fat it's really easy to slip into gross and sloppy zone.

not the same anon, but you seem to be confusing not dressing for your body type with simply being a bad dresser.

It's not like thin people are incapable of looking sloppy or bad. But bluntly speaking thin people have a much easier time finding clothes that suit them because most clothes are designed for skinny people. It doesn't mean it's impossible for them to still look bad, but if they do, they probably aren't looking bad in the clothes BECAUSE they are thin, they are looking bad because it's a shitty outfit or the wrong size or the wrong coord.

Whereas the fatty-chans looking bad that are being addressed in this thread are looking bad because they are wearing clothes that were designed for a thinner bodytype.

If you knew anything about patterns, you'd know the tedious and precise technique that is grading, or making the pattern bigger/smaller. Its either you cut up the base pattern, and add fractions of an inch, one size at a time, or you buy the $500+ machine that makes that task just a teeny bit easier.
The easiest patterns to make bigger? Shirred patterns. Just slash and spread, smooth the lines, adjust the elastic requirement, BAM. $25 adjustment vs $100 adjustment.
Also, the one size I've seen every brand do, is the same size as western sample/model sizes. With the smallest variation in ease/measurements, every dress fit my size 6 dress form. So technically, they're not "small asian people clothes"(perhaps only in length), they're just fashion standard.
    btw, you mad.

    This.
Also, unless there is very high market demand for a company to put the effort and resources into creating specially sized garments for larger customers, usually the company will not bother because it simply isn't as profitable as putting out standard sizes.

Heavier girls are still buying standard size garments. Companies are still making money. So why would they put money into specially designing clothes for a larger demographic if that demographic is already buying their clothes? It doesn't make financial sense.

The companies which do put out special larger sizes do so at risk of loss, which is the reason for the high markup of plus-size lolita.

There are plenty of fat lolitas that are great lolitas. The problem is when you are fat, and you cut corners everywhere else too. Ok, if you are fat, you are fat. But you can still try your best to find clothes that suit you (and don't be afraid to alter them!), you can still do your best with make-up and wigs, and you can still put the effort in to make a great coord. If you are the prettiest thin girl out there, maybe you can get away with wearing a dubious dress, or a shiny wig. If you are fat and you also wear no make up, make no effort, and your wig looks like >>5790462
then yes, you will look grotesque. It's all about the effort, the time and the money that you are willing to put in. If you don't have much money, then you must make it up in time, and vice versa.

THIS THIS THIS. The problems start when lolitas who are average in looks as well as plus-size think they can also skip makeup, throw on a wig with untrimmed bangs, put on an AP dress that is 10 cms below their measurements, wear some knee socks that cut their circulation and then take some unflattering pics to top it all off. I'm 150 pounds and a size 4 us... That's not plus size. Also plus size in most commercial fashions *anywhere* begins at a 12 that's when thy stop carrying any size above in typical retail stores. Betsy Johnson stops at 10, true religion stops at 12 jbrand at 12, Ted baker stops at 10 and bcbg 12 just to name a few. Luxury fashion typically stops at 8 but for more commercial fashions it's between 10 and 12. Plus is 14 and up. But just because you're 150 on the scale doesn't mean you're fat. My measurement are 39-28-35 a size 4 in jeans and I'm 150. People really need to let go of the idea that there is a universal measure for fatness.

    Exactly. THANK YOU.

There is so much at play that determines someone's size. Genetics, bones/muscle & organs to body fat ratio play a bigger part than numbers on a scale. Everyone is different. Numbers (in general) really don't mean much, if anything.

I'm a Mesomorph, so I gain muscle and lose fat quickly when I do actually work out and break the habits of eating shitty food. But when I don't and I'm not careful about watching calories, and take time to be a little less sedentary I gain fat quickly. 150 on me looks about average/normal. 135 and I'm in a bikini. I'm also not THAT tall either, only 5'4". But I'm mostly muscle.

Take someone who's the same height but an Ectomorph (naturally skinny, small frame, lean muscle mass) and they'd probably look like a landwhale at 150... IF they could actually gain that much fat. They're the types who can eat like piggies and not bat an eye or gain an ounce.

Endomorphs are like the natural "fatty-chans", and they usually have the pear-shaped figures. They have slow metabolisms and have issues gaining muscle and losing weight. It takes A FUCKTON of dedication and hard work for an Endo to lose the weight and keep it off. That's more dedication than the average person has. Not impossible, of course.

    /rambling and time-wasting.

Out of curiosity, what would I be? I've never been fat, but always more thick muscular wise. I'm a runner, but instead of getting stick thin legs like most cross country runners, I end up with ginormous muscular thighs. The only time my thighs shrank was when I went on a liquid diet after wisdom teeth removal and didn't move for a week.

If /cgl/ could actually grasp this concept of peoples' bodies working differently, about 60% of the posts on this board would not exist.

Although I guess even if they could grasp that simple concept, it wouldn't stop them from being shallow fucks who hate people for how they look.

Quit with the sis science. People have different body dispositions, yes. This affects appearance. However, most people don't differ on metabolism and there is no magical category system. You ever been to a dietician (who is good)? They look at what you eat, not what body type you are and shrug their hands going "Oh welp, can't help that you're an ectomorph"

When you say "plus size" it implies giving credit to someone who's not even fat or heavy to deal with in the first place. And I'm terribly sorry to inform you, but being "plus size" is stereotyped as heavier set women because it's assumed they have bigger measurements hence "plus." A size 8 is never going to be on the same level, which is why it's silly for some factions of the fashion world to label it as such.
She's an average girl with a nice coord. If she can fit MMM then she doesn't have real body shape problems to worry about.

Show me a girl that's 170+ pounds rock an awesome coord and then we'll have a case. I'm not trying to put down bigger girls, but a woman that's above 5'4 and weighs around 150 pounds is not heavy and never will be. That's average.

32" really isn't THAT bad. I mean, it depends on your body type too of course, and how you "wear" the weight, but I would guess you don't look nearly as bad as you think you do. And also, there are plenty of "chubby" lolitas that people look up to. You just have to dress well, and be good and styling your hair and makeup so you can still look really pretty. Weight is luckily not he only component of beauty/ :)

This isn't too bad of a concept for a non-lolita dress, using the tulle like that to give different shades like that. It wouldn't look too bad if it was actually executed properly. Fix the top part, use tulle that isn't such an ugly color, fix the gathering and you'd have a lovely non-lolita dress. I probably feel this way because it very vaguely reminds me of that black and white dress Grace Kelly wears in "Rear Window".

Why are you wearing hooker-red lipstick when you're trying to look like an elegant Victorian lady?

Your face looks mannish. Go on YouTube and find some make-up tutorials. Lolita isn't just about the clothes.

It appears that you have cankles, meaning that your calves and ankles just sort of meld into eachother with no definition. Ankle boots just make this problem worse. Avoid them. Try high heels or knee-high boots.

There is nothing lolita about that blouse. I don't know why you'd choose it for a coord.

The skirt is... yeah. I think you should look for something in a solid colour. The one you're wearing looks like an eBay knock-off of h. Naoto.

If you don't know how to style your hair, buy a wig.

I don't visit daily_lolita anymore, so I didn't see you post this, but I will give you a critique here.

That blouse and skirt do not look attractive paired together. The prints on both are clashing and end up looking cheap. You should try wearing a solid color blouse with that skirt, I'm sure it would look a lot better. I don't care for the shoes either, they make the whole ensemble look even more costumey. If you like the pointed toe, I'd suggest a pair of pumps instead, or maybe some Oxfords? Also, your hair looks a bit messy.

Girl, learn to not be so defensive

you got offended because you were called ita, which in that photo you are. You said yourself, you aren't sure what to do with your hair and make up and such

that top doesn't go with the skirt
material or pattern wise. This isn't even just a loli thing. it's common sense fashion

here's an example of what to do:

get a wig or cut your hair short
have it be/dye it a dark brown so your eyes and skintone pop better
lighten up on the make up, stick to a neutral pink like your natural lipcolour
lighten up on the blush, you put too much on
same with the liner and eyeshadow

I'd also suggest circle lenses for you

viola, you look a few years younger

I'd also suggest sticking to more simple structured cords. I don't remember what you lolitas call it

Can i ask a serious question? Do you have some sort of problem with your legs? I'm not trying to be mean, they just look, well swollen and messed up. I have nerve damage in one of my legs and it swells a bit, but it doesn't even look that odd.

up top, you look like you got caught in a rainstorm. keep your makeup clean and light around your eyes, get a good anti-frizz serum (i like john frieda, or if you have the cash, bumble and bumble also make a good one), and maybe a gel or spray with light hold to it.
the bright red lipstick washes out your tones, and it's very ill advised to do the heavy eye with a strong lip. i think you would look better with dark browns as opposed to black around the eye, between your hair and skin. you can still get a nice smoky look but you won't get the panda effect.

That hair ages you a lot. It's dated and your hair has no shine to it, so it looks unhealthy (and it reminds me of a teacher I had in 1996). Wear only one hair accessory, two makes it look like you're trying too hard to be kawaii.

I know it can be hard to find shoes with thick ankles, but almost anything else would be better than what you have. They look like men's shoes, and the sharp point only makes your ankles look wider. Go for something with a rounded toe.

There have been some great suggestions for your coord, there's not too much I can add there.

Keep posting on DL and strive to not see yourself here again! Hell, CGL is awesome if you want to just lay your clothes on the bed and ask "should I wear this?". You'll get some good ideas that way.

now the camera flash and the simple fact that nylons are sheer items that get more transparent with stretch are working against you; and unlike what other anons said it does seem to be black, but unfortunately it's a blue-based black so it looks bad. that is not your fault, that's the manufacturers being dicks. instead, i believe you can get dancer's tights, which are more opaque still, and can help reduce the chances of that blue-black effect.
definitely invest in some nice heels. they don't even have to be stiletto death pumps made with real blades, but the boots you are wearing really aren't doing much for the look or for you. when you have thicker legs, avoid anything that stops at the ankle. the stop of shoe at the ankle emphasizes leg width. instead, as others have said, knee high boots or regular style heels. with heels, the line of your leg garment (tights or whatever) can be seen in the opening of the shoe and gives an illusion of length.
and ALWAYS avoid high-waisted skirts. they create an illusion of the bust sagging all the way down. keep with OPs or JSKs with princess seams.

All I have to say is that if the brand does not carry your size then you are too big. Japanese brands don't go very high in the size department because they don't have an obesity problems like America does. Therefore, they don't see the need to make things as big. Which also means! That you are too fucking fat and even if you squeeze into it you'll still look a stupid ita cow. Lose weight. Or are you so fat and useless that you can't be bothered? Seriously. If you're so big they don't carry your size that should be your hint that your body is disgustingly unnatural and they don't even want to make dresses for people like you.

Why did I watch that awful video? Also that girl ruined tinychat - she would try to monopolize any conversation with complianing about how everyone was always mean to her.

She is wearing a replica. So the sizing would be much bigger than normal brand dress you are talking about. Not that is makes she look good, though.
