Attention 4chan extension/user script/archive developers: Some time in the next few days, we'll be rolling out a complete HTML rewrite of the imageboards.
The design will remain the same, but the underlying HTML/CSS is completely new, and validates HTML5/CSS3 (with some tweaks to account for cross-browser compatibility).

Please visit this thread to read more about the changes, and here to preview the code.

As a regular user, these changes should not affect you. You will need to update your 4chan browser extensions/user scripts when their maintainer updates them to be compatible with the changes.
The official 4chan Chrome extension will be ready to go when the updates happen, and 4chan X should be ready soon. We'll post more details on the day of the migration!

Received a text this morning telling me I "need to be able to drink next year," because I was "no fun." Every last part of the con was fun except him. Hopefully he didn't ruin it for too many people.

The awards were just announced kinda rapidly, and we stood up wherever we were sitting in the audience (though I guess most of us were in the same area).
Prizes were given out afterwards, some people tracked down the masquerade coordinator guy a bit after the masq, and the rest at the masquerade feedback panel thing.
Oh, they did have a couple people go up for sewing machines, though; don't quite remember what they were prizes for though.

It was kinda disappointing, since I was really looking forward to getting to go on the stage for an award... can't even imagine how disappointed and pissed the cancelled skit people were, though.

I believe it was because they spent huge bucks on DJs and such, and the amount of people that wanted to go to the rave was I think rather more than those who wanted to go to the masquerade (though I didn't do a direct comparison). It seems like one of those decisions made by higherups that seems like it's better financial sense, but in reality is pretty shitty.

The masq ran late (before the alarm) because the other events in the ballroom ran late. the alarm made it even worse.

The soap bubble DJs are all local and don't get paid booking fees. Short of flights for kors k, and maybe heavygrinder, ACen paid nothing for the DJs on Saturday night. I wasn't there when the decision was made, but I'm sure that some of it was based on the fact that Hardcore Synergy was delayed by 3 hours and cut short the night before, and they didn't want to fuck over both dances.

wanna know the thing that bugged me the most about Acen? the Gunpla contest, I don't really consider myself any good at building models but by god some of the ones in the display case were so poorly made, least year the models were so much better, I actually plan on entering with Crossbone X-2 next year but I wanna see stuff better than anything I can do too

Hey, if you guys want to attend a much better con might I suggest Ramen Con? I thought I'd check out a first-year con while visiting my family in the area and it was great. The con chair is a guy who was frustrated about cons like you guys are so he started his own. The first year had a little over 1,000 attendees. I thought, "Wow, if cons in this area are this fun ACen must be even better." LAWL NOPE I came all the way from Massachusetts for nothing.

Only went for Friday. Hung with Charizard. had my ego stroked because I made a sword.

Shit started so lovely and toasty, then it turned into winter at 5pm and refused to turn back.

Met Awkward, Roko, Ei666shi, Kafuka and some of you other weirdos. Awkward and Roko got into a sissy catfight that ended with angry hate sex, right there in the middle of the /cgl/ meet up.

Much better than last year's ACen, but last year, I was stuck rooming with some Hetaliatards.

ACen's problem has a lot to do with the crowds that come out for it. You get a lot of young and stupid kids who are away from mommy and daddy for the weekend so they go and do all the dumb shit they can. Hence the never-ending chain of ambulances.

Likewise, you get the people who start partying before they even arrive and don't stop until they get kicked out or the cops arrive because they are naked and puking in the parking garage.

Now, the real problem on top of all of that bullshit? The people running the show are just as bad as the attendees. They are disjointed messes of booze-soaked irresponsibility and it's nothing short of a miracle that they manage to arrange a convention every year, let alone run it.

It's a younger crowd and that is the real problem. It's only through the dedicated work of a few highly stressed out individuals that some of the volunteers get the fuck together and do what they are supposed to be doing, and a lot of that is actually because of the hotel and con center staff itself.

The Hyatt Regency hosts a ton of big cons, including Chicago Comic-Con, which despite being affiliated with the New York and San Diego comic-con, is just an enormous fucking flea market that lasts for three days and attracts creepy older men who tote around enormous bins of comics and action figures.

It's like an entire convention of nothing but the comic book guy.

I went to closing ceremonies and they said the fire alarm went off because some douche on the 9th floor grabbed one of the fire extinguishers and sprayed it all over one of the walls. The over-spray caused the air quality to change and triggered the alarm. I did notice that they made not one apology about the masquerade skits being cut. Granted I don't usually go to those things, but I would be pissed as hell if I was one of the ones doing a skit.
