It would depend on the type of bullying I suppose.

With physical bullying, report it immediately. Nobody should ever be able to harm you and get away with it.

If they are just making snarky remarks at you then don't get worked up or show emotion. Just stare at them, eye to eye, and say something like "you remind me of an alpaca I once knew" then turn away. This is a full proof way of making them think you're crazy, so they'll back off.

seriously though the best thing to do with bullies is to suck it up and not let it affect your self-esteem too much. The teachers rarely want to do anything about it and most likely the bullies' parents are substance abusers and/or trailerpark trash so they don't give a shit about their troubled kids running havoc. It's sad, but it doesn't last forever. I attacked back a few times and gave one of my bullies quite a beating, which just pissed them off more so later they got reinforcements and kicked my pasty ass. I rarely did anything to provoke them, I was just minding my own business when they just came over to fuck me up. So the one time I decided to be a hero it didn't end up quite like in my Japanese animus.

Devil's Advocate. I had several bullies over my school life that wanted to pick on me because I was shy, I was new, or that age old elementary school adage they liked me. I never had to resort to fighting, occasionally I would get adults involved.

But mostly I would ignore them. Because, just like trolls, bullies want to get a reaction out of you. If you don't give it to them they'll get frustrated or leave you alone or they'll escalate. If they escalate too far you get an adult involved. It doesn't make you any more of a "little bitch" than calling the police when some guy breaks into your home and steals your shit.

Only morons or guys too hopped up on being macho think getting adults involved makes themselves a "little bitch target".

Also, you're still a little bitch, just for entirely different reasons so it wouldn't have mattered either way.

This. I can't forgive myself for never telling my mom what was going on. I got beat up regularly, never did anything about it and tried to just ignore it. If I had told my parents about it, they probably would've taken action and fought for me. But the "If I tell someone, I'll just be a little bitch and they'll give me even harder time" mindset was too strong. Actually, no. Most of my friends who were bullied had their parents do something about it and it actually worked.

I dealt with a LOT of bullies growing up. I was tiny and an easy target. But there were a number of times when I got tired of it and did something.

And every time I did something, they left me alone from that point on.

Because bullies will CONTINUE to go for the easy targets that they KNOW won't do anything. Get an adult all you want, all the bully will do is get more secretive about his shit so he has less chance of being caught.
