always want to throw a brick at shit like this. Cosplay is portraying a
particular character. I don't care if they're black, white, tan, blue,
green, grey, orange, polka dot, whatever. I don't give a fuck if you
choose to lighten, darken, etc... your skin for the character. The whole
point is to PORTRAY the character. Look at all the shit we put
ourselves through. We wear contacts, wigs, bald caps, pad our chest,
bind our chests, paint ourselves every color of the rainbow, wear
corsets, ungodly uncomfortable shoes, prosthetic teeth, eye patches, and
an untold number of other things to modify the look of our body to
match a character.
Guess what? People can LIKE characters of
other races! You can't tell me I can't go and use some spray tan if the
character has a darker complexion then me. Just like I can't go and tell
my darker skinned friends to use a lighter foundation to lighten their
skin.
I think it's more racist to turn around and yell at
somebody for cosplaying a character outside their race. We're FUCKING
GEEKS IN COSTUMES, why do so many people forget this. How many
cosplayers get shit just for cosplaying period? Regardless of race. Many
are looked down on as the shit of society and a bunch of freaks. Stop
throwing fucking white privilege and racist bullshit into the mix. |
