How on topic do you want /cgl/ to be?

/cgl/ is a board centered around cosplay and lolita and with the influx of drama and other threads people are beginning to think about what should and should not be posted.

While the nature of cosplay has allowed discussion about conventions and such, what about other elements that are loosely tied in with the hobby especially when they can be discussed on other boards. In the past we welcomed cosplay photography threads even though there is a photo board in additional to threads about J-fashion and even relationship advice.

Then you got /cgl/ favorite threads that can be considered off topic as well.

    /fit/ Fridays
    Comedian Threads from Comedy Anon
What's on Your Mind/What are you wearing
    Johnny Bravo

Should these be posted on the board in spite of how they're not really tied to cosplay?
    >> Anonymous 03/16/12(Fri)16:05 No.5607980
/cgl/ has become the board for women, in other words, come here to talk about whatever shit you want if you have a vagina. Reminds me of /v/, but for girls. It is not cospplay or lolita? Get out, that simple.

    >Should these be posted on the board in spite of how they're not really tied to cosplay?
According to the rules, no. If they're brought to the attention of mods, they are deleted. No one cares about tradition or liking. The vast majority of /a/ jerks off to loli, but that doesn't make loli threads 404 any less slower. Same for /g/. Or anything that concerns other than a boards topic. /cgl/ is the only one where you have /fa/ threads and /fit/ threads and especially, lots and lots of /soc/ and /r9k/ threads, simply because you're not confident in your own identity.
    >> Anonymous 03/16/12(Fri)16:14 No.5608003
I like /cgl/ being girls general. It's nice to have a place to call home here.

    >Comedian Threads from Comedy Anon

    >Johnny Bravo

Delete that shit from cgl. If you want a girls place, go to soc.

I... actually kind of like the idea of /cgl/ being /v/ for girls. /v/ is still more ontopic than we are, though.

the only one of these that is even remotely related to /cgl/ is Johnny, because at least that encourages people to post costumes. /fit/ threads need to fuck off to /fit/ and the other bull shit just needs to fuck off
    >> Anonymous 03/17/12(Sat)12:49 No.5610333
/cgl/ would be too slow without all these other threads.

    >>5610320
No they're not. If a loser from /r9k/ comes here asking for pics of hot cosplayers, he gets rejected as he should. But when some Beta roleplaying nerd does the same, you all get wet over it, mostly just because he's been there longer than you, so you think he's not a worthless pos.

As a lurker, I cannot agree with this any more.
seryisslee, this board would be dead without ontopic.

I do think person-specific drama megathreads like the daily KotaKoti general should be banned but that's because it tends to involve nearly illegal levels of stalking and harassment.

This. /cgl/ is far worse than /b/ in terms of trying to bring people to suicide.

    >>5610333
it wasn't too slow years ago when we didn't have any of this bull shit. We used to have 1-2 lolita threads within 10 pages, the sheer influx of the lolita community is enough to speed the board up. We don't need bullshit threads that belong on other boards.

Does anyone else remember when threads about conventions (like con horror stories, or AA) were nearly too off topic?
    >> Anonymous 03/17/12(Sat)13:41 No.5610447
In all honesty, if all the off-topic threads were removed and never came back, I would leave as well. I pretty much only come here for that stuff.

As for those saying to just go elsewhere, there really is no other place to talk about these topics with this type of group of people. /fit/ and /fa/ are not the kind of people I want to talk to, and I get extremely annoyed with people on other forums other than 4chan.

I do feel bad breaking the rules, since I understand the necessity of keeping boards on-topic, but there really is no where else for me to go.

Well thank god, we don't need shitty posters like you here anyways. Good riddance.

Meh... /cgl/ has always had a (insert flavor of the months/year) mega drama threads. It just seems like now their more prevalent because the post limit got upped, and the number of pages got upped. Also more stupid drama threads, troll thread from other boards, and flat out off topic threads lowering peoples' tolerance for anything off topic in general.

This. I'm waiting for cyberbullying laws to become nationwide. Will be interesting to see what this board is like then.

    Are you fucking kidding me?
Besides how could they enforce it on anonymous boards such as this anyways?

/fit/ Fridays aren't gonna fuck off until /fit/ itself isn't filled with some of the worst people on 4chan.

    Unfortunately that's very unlikely

The news is exploding about bullying and cyberbullying. And there have been court cases about this shit. Also some states already have cyberbullying laws. So I'm not gonna be surprised when all the states have them (or when they become a big nationwide one).

    http://www.cyberbullying.us/Bullying_and_Cyberbullying_Laws.pdf

    http://www.ncsl.org/issues-research/telecom/cyberstalking-cyberharassment-and-cyberbullying-l.aspx

They'd just track your IP, ISP, crack your proxies, etc. You really think that if the government can't track you if they put their minds into enforcing this shit? That or the board would make harassment a banable offense due to complaints to the authorities. Or the board would be shut down.

I'm just saying I'm not going to be surprised when these laws become widespread and seriously enforced. Look at that Ravi case that just happened. If that NJ law had been enacted before the case started he'd be charged with that too. The law was made because of that case.

Maybe if women weren't such whiny bitches who killed themselves because people on the internet said bad things to them, we wouldn't have to worry about them.

    Can adults be bullied too?

Because, remember, we are all 18+ here. If you get "cyberbullied" on 4chan, it's you and your parents who broke the law, not us.

I can't say. They are letting drones fly around the airspace with little restriction soon, so anything is possible. But internet harassment is harassment so as far as this issue goes... just a matter of how long til this shit explodes and it really gets enforced.
