As of lately /cgl/ is becoming nothing more than a place for other boards to come and try and get a rile out of seagulls, or a place to post hate of one cosplayer or another. Or better yet, posting shit that has nothing to do with cosplay at all. I'm a seagull, but seriously guys?
    >> Anonymous 02/28/12(Tue)14:43 No.5547235
Be the change you want to see. Make /cgl/-relevant threads instead of yet another complaint thread.
    >> Anonymous 02/28/12(Tue)14:44 No.5547237
    I can agree on that.
Were are the mods? Even if you report a thread shit doesn't happen.
    >> Anonymous 02/28/12(Tue)14:44 No.5547238
No, I completely understand what you mean OP.
80% of the posts here are war-threads.
I use to ignore them, but now, it is getting pretty annoying to be honest. People need to stop feeding the trolls.
    >> Anonymous 02/28/12(Tue)14:49 No.5547246
    >>5547238
Thank you. And yes this is another complaint thread, but maybe this way SOMEONE can do something, because doing as you said "be the change" has resulted in nothing.

    >come online
    >see "How often do you think about committing suicide?" thread
    >see "Where does one find a girlfriend?"
    >see a Dakota thread about her stealing a background or something
Seriously, we have /adv/ for this shit, and Dakota has nothing to do with us. Do we even have mods? Can we get some if we don't? These last few weeks are proof that we desperately need them.

    EXACTLY
The last few weeks have been a shit storm.
Is this national post shit on /cgl/ month?
I think not. Mods were for art tho?

I'm all for creating on topic threads and slowly pushing out the off topic ones. I don't mind it when another board comes here to ask questions but when they're obviously tryin hard to just piss off anons...eh. It gets old. I will purposely start to revamp on topics until the dumb shit gets pushed out or...something.

The main issue is people actually replying to troll threads. Don't do It. Just don't comment anything. Chances are If you post anything then they'll reply.
Either that, or sage It into oblivion.
    >> Anonymous 02/28/12(Tue)15:06 No.5547298
This happens when PT has gone.

She was this place's lucky charm.
    >> Anonymous 02/28/12(Tue)15:07 No.5547303
the only off topic threads I like and hope stay are the femanon ones like makeup, fashion, actual femanon issues posted by obvious real girls, ect
    >> Anonymous 02/28/12(Tue)15:08 No.5547308
I used to create armour making threads and other such themed help/cosplay picture threads but I just don't bother any more.
Feels like they'd just drown in all the shit threads that get made. There's so many that even when they don't get many replies they're still everywhere.

There aren't enough people like the outspoken anons/tripfags to call out the trolls and sage/report is widely ignored

Self moderation is a joke in a board of women

    Riss makes a good point.
    Just STOP replying to them.
    Eventually they might go away.
But I'm all for this no mod crap.
If they aren't gonna do their jobs promote someone who will.

    >>5547303
A lot of those can be on topic though, especially make up, which is heavily relevant to looking good in both cosplay and lolita.

PT was bad enough, but Dakota is just proof that this board is now filled with bitter or bored girls with too much time to spare.

inb4 it was always like this, because no, it definitely wasn't. The past year or two have been particularly terrible, probably with the spread in popularity of the board and an influx of new users.
    >> Anonymous 02/28/12(Tue)15:12 No.5547321
    >>5547318
Again I second this, I remember when this was a on topic bored.
I can agree with make up and such, but some of this shit is just way off base.
Here's a tip for all the other boards, if you REALLY want to talk to girls that bad, get of 4chan and go outside. Meet people, it works wonders.

I never post in armor threads because it mostly sounds like larp cosplayers making chestplates than general armor (Boots, helmets, weapons). It's too specific IMO.

Best way to fight a troll is to ignore them. The minute you reply the thread can easily be derailed with constant bickering.

The only type of cosplay threads that do well are "Who should I cosplay as" and self post threads

    >> Anonymous 02/28/12(Tue)15:55 No.5547501
Even some of the on-topic threads can be annoying too though. I've seen at least three different 'who should I cosplay as?' threads in the past 24 hours (though I suspect that two of those were trolls.)

I quite like some of the female oriented threads like the fashion and makeup threads, there doesn't seem to be a place for them elsewhere on 4chan (not even /fa/, they're mostly elitist men who tell you to dress like you're a 40 year old business woman no matter who you are). Some of the other ones can be a bit stupid though, like threads about who's a virgin, period stories, etc.

I think it mostly comes down to common sense. If a thread is inviting you to share your stories about an unrelated topic to /cgl/, don't respond. If a thread even mentions another board, dpn't respond. If a thread screams "trolling", don't respond, not even to say "0/10".
    >> Anonymous 02/28/12(Tue)16:38 No.5547658
    >>5547338
I'm not even talking about those sorts of threads, I'm talking about cosplay specific ones where there'd usually be the standard introduction to foam for beginners and then more experienced cosplayers discussing other methods they'd tried and used.

Says a lot that people don't even remember that sort of thing being around.

    >>5547501
Pretty much this, I just keep tabs on threads I'm interested in and hide the rest. It makes me cringe just to see people replying to obvious troll and off topic threads stating what they are. I feel bad enough for posting in here as it is.
