I flew in lolita with no problems the beginning of the year. They only stopped me for a pat down at security in Las Vegas because it was a couple days before New Years. On the way back, I didn't even get stopped.

Personally when I fly I am normally on a pretty long flight/travel time. like 10+ hours, and I normally have to be up before the ass crack of dawn so I'm not gonna lie I dress like a bum when I get on the flight. Normally though I will change into something on the plane along with doing my hair and make up so that way when whoever picks me up won't bitch about me leaving the house in sweats.

Surely a weirdly-dressed person would be far less likely to bomb a plane. I mean, they'd at least try to make themselves less conspicuous.

I've worn cat ears on a plane before simply because it was logistically impossible for me to put them on at the convention (since they had to be put on before I put my hair in pigtails and let me tell you getting your pigtails to look anime takes hours and a lot of hair spray.)
I didn't get any trouble for it. A few people asked and I just said I was on my way to a convention and they were just like "Such wacky young'ns!" It was cool because I wasn't aspie about it.

Well, if it's too big to fit in a suitcase it probably violates the airline policies to begin with, so to get let on the plane with it you'd have to be an aspie dick about it, and you probably wouldn't get let on anyway. I'd suggest either making it collapsible so you can fit it in a suitcase or put it in a box and check those boxes, no questions asked.

If you have friends who live nearby by all means do so. Otherwise pack your boxes to be fool proof. Wrap all the fragile parts in bubble wrap, wrap that bubble wrap in foam, wrap the whole thing in even more foam, another layer of bubble wrap, and then maybe fill the whole thing with peanuts just for safe measure.

I've never had any trouble with security myself. I flew for the very first time back in August, and each time I've flown since then I've been pretty surprised by how EASY security is. I didn't get pat down, put through any kind of scanner or anything.

That is too ridiculous. I wear lolita to the airport, and every time I do have to go through a pat-down, but nothing more.

Come to SFO where we will pat you down or send you through the "it seems you naked" machine! No one is exempt! Yay! Although on one flight they just waved us through and I was disappointed. I was like "what, nothing?" to the TSA and he was like "You volunteering?" and I was all "Fuck yeah, let's do this shit."

It's just not the full experience if you aren't seen naked or getting your jubblies touched by a TSA.
