whenever I get stuck in a shitty room, whether it be too small or
underfurnished, I usually do what I can to make people well aware of
that fact, and still run the panel as I normally would've run it.
Thankfully, this year, I haven't had that problem yet.
You can
still be a character that's recognizable, but you shouldn't have to try
to force it. I mean, since I've taken a minimal/modified/whatever
genderbent Reimu as my main cosplay in order to match my DJ name, I've
got a bow bigger than most Lolitas here. But in this case, I would say
that the Trickle-Down effect actually applies. If you run good, solid
panels, then you'll be recognized as that guy who runs good panels, AND
you'll also have the added benefit of people recognizing your image as a
result. Rather than people recognizing your image first and associating
your panels with your image, you'll want to try to have people
recognize your image as a result of recognizing your panels. On the note
of panelist credibility, I kinda noticed that in How To Talk To Girls
as well. Unfortunately, trying to restore that is about as hard as
trying to restore a good credit rating, unless you run them at a con
that's completely unfamiliar with your works.
As for the intro
music and crowd hyping, I learned that well enough during the
room-loading for the Closing Ceremonies last weekend. That was probably
the most fun pre-Closing we've had so far. |
