An acquaintance/friendish thing. She is extremely bitchy and always ends up 'sick at con', which means she spends her time moping in the hotel room, making you feel guilty for going out to attend the convention because she's 'siiiick'. She's also slightly overweight with unfortunate features and she can't sew worth anything.

Unfortunately our tastes coincided and we cosplayed together for a while-- which really meant I was somehow wrangled into making her outfits or she'd just use the ones I'd made for someone else. I finally got her to send me back a wig she took from me, it was originally for my boyfriend but he backed out last minute, she took the costume and the wig and 'claimed it' as hers since 'she's the only one who wore it'.

I had one. She was all of the above. She was bipolar. Was a closet furry, and probably a lesbian in denial. She claimed that one staff member(went by Kenji) kept her from getting into AX masquerade because she had dated him, and said he only wanted her for sex. Said all the fat guys who wanted to date her, only wanted her for her body. Didn't want to be mistaken for a lesbian. Also, she was writing her own hentai. All the characters were mutants that could shift from human, to a half animal cat or dog creature(basically they looked like Thundercats). The main character was a female named Jellylorum who, she said was based of herself, and all the other characters were male that basically the whole story was them raping her.

Yeah, I suffered a severe case of gullible idiot for staying friends with her for a few years. It was pretty funny the stuff that happened after we stopped being friends. Like how she tried to convince a lady running a cosplay picnic not to bring my dog cause it might get stepped on or bite somebody.

I know one person who, from what I could tell, never made a single costume herself (but had plenty of friends who knew how to sew and were willing to do the work for her), and only picked things that would get her all kinds of attention (Eevee gijinka in a bikini, Stephanie from Lazy Town, Dokuro-chan, Krista from Fern Gully, Sona from LoL, Plugsuit Rei from Evangelion... I could go on). At one con, she actually switched from her Avatar: the Last Airbender cosplay to her MLP cosplay mid-day because her cousin, who was also cosplaying MLP, was getting more attention than her.

To her credit, though, she knows how to handle wigs. So she's not really that bad, compared to most of the people that /cgl/ keeps track of. She's just a slightly egotistical attention whore.

They used to have a shop in Coscom but stopped doing commissions when they started getting complaints for not sending the products at all or sending shoddy work instead.
They drop plans at the last second without warning. Staying in their hotel room? Oops, they can't make it after all and you're stranded at an out-of-state con? You're out of luck.

Most of all, though, they are huge liars. They go through great lengths to make a certain person look absolutely awful by exaggerating about the things they do. They told me that my ex gained a ton of weight and tried to kill herself after we broke up, said a lesbian couple in our community had to take vaginal pills to help with herpes, etc. None of it was true.
Then, they will turn around at the tip of a hat, start hanging out with those people they 'hate' and tell them lies about you.
A lot of people started putting two and two together after a while and distanced themselves from them, but they sadly still have a lot of people who are unaware of their bullshit.

This guy I know.. He's just an awful human being disguised as an outgoing, friendly, energetic dork.

First off, he's a piss poor cosplayer. The few costumes he's made have been closet cosplay, and even then, he fucked those up cause he wanted to make them cooler with dumb bullshit like props from other costumes. Everything else has been commissioned or bought.

He has the problem of wearing his costumes so damn much that they start to get filthy and smelly and worn out. Then he'll start doing that mix and match cosplay shit. Wig from one costume, shirt from another, plain clothes jeans and sneakers, random ass weapon...

Anyone he's every commissioned has either been shorted on money or not paid at all. The few times I've made anything for him, he shows up at the last second to pick it up, practically on his way to the convention, and claims that the money he has is the only money on him or that he thought we agreed to a much lower price, or some bullshit.

That's bad enough on its own, but he does this sort of shit to everyone. Lies and deflections until there's nothing you can do. Says he'll just be stopping by your hotel room and then stays all night because he doesn't actually have a room for the con. Never pays you back. In fact, he sneaks off to go stay in someone else's room before you can confront him about it.

When he's not going to more conventions than he can afford, he's borrowing money and buying things he also can't afford. When he actually does get money he could use to pay back the dozens of people he owes, he splurges on something and then makes excuses how he needs to start saving up to recoup the cost of a big purchase like a new computer/laptop/gaming system.

I wouldn't be upset about it if it weren't for some of the things they say. these girls in my picture are , according to them, "very skinny and shouldn't even be labeled as thick," and then anyone skinnier than these girls are labeled as underweight and "anorexic" by these girls.

This whole thing makes me wonder what they think they look like, what do they see when they look in the mirror, and what do they say about the other girls and me behind our backs if these thick girls are skinny in their eyes. I am not skinny, but I am not as thick as these girls...

there are really no set rules for what people choose to call themselves. personally (being a size 20 myself) If you're 300+ lbs (which is maybe a size 22/24 depending on your height) you have gone beyond "curvy" and are just fat. I consider myself fat simply because I have a belly and rolls.

I cut that shit when I realized I was beginning to develop some dangerous eating habits. I was so nervous I barely ate, and other days I'd just eat a bit of lunch with my parents and then I'd pass the rest of the day drinking water or tea. I suspected she was stalking me on Facebook even after I blocked her, published something to bait her and there she was, commenting with a fake account. She never was very smart, and she wasn't able to keep her own lies straight. No wonder she hasn't a single cosplayer friend.

Had a very similar experience. Luckily, in my case the cosplayer got bored and moved on to a new target. I just ended up ignoring them. I figured out that she was just after attention. Even bad attention if she could get it. I blocked her on everything and if any new profiles try to add me I do a check on them first (via mutual friends). It is sad that some cosplayers can be that nasty and have such a bad effect on us.

hmm i dont have the 'someone in my group is a crazy bitch'. i think i have lucked out so hard with my friends. the only thing i can think of drama wise was that when we first started going to cons i was the only one who knew how to sew (not super amazing but i was surprisingly good for my age at the time)
thus that meant i had to make 6 costumes in just 2 months. i was just a wee lass and it was just just too much stress. but then i talked to them and they were understanding. and now every has blossomed into great cosplay maker
