from a distance. The skirt comes with a built in petti thats pretty much sad. Even with a petti under it the layers of the skirt (cheap crunchy cotton, wrinkled and dirty, with the built in petti and slip [wat]) it deflated the petti almost immediately.

Also the skirt was nothing more that spoonflower copied print. It wasn't the replica depicted on the site. It was blurry and faded.

Well even if you don't end up wearing it much, it's a learning experience. Worst case scenario you can always sell it on the comm sales. Someone is sure to buy it and at least you can make most of your money back.

Oo Jia makes a sugary carnival replica. Her prices are totally reasonable and the quality is excellent! She, herself, is also a lovely person

These are older photos but when I get home I certainly can.

It came coated in adhesive on the underside, it's disgusting really. Black and yellow virtually all over.

The words Angelic Pretty are actually printed on it. I was pissed. It's not a respectful replica, as much as replicas can be. It's just a blatant copy.

Of course it is a blatent copy. Of course it has the AP name emblazened all over it. Did you think that someone who was going to copy it would be polite enough to at least change that? (Oo Jia's also still have the brand names on them)

What the fuck did you think you were buying? You bought a cheap Chinese knock off and got exactly that.
It is a scan of the real thing, printed on cheap fabric and cheaply made.
I can't say anything about the detail of the print since you haven't shown it. I have the original (first release, which is more water colour-y than the re-release) and it isn't crisp. Any scan & reprint of it will be even more unclear.

Oh god no don't do that. The fabric is totally stiff and according to Clobba:

"I just checked and it seems your headbow was missed out when the order form was filled out on my end. The info was sent over in email at the very beginning. Sorry about that! The headbow wasn't included in the paypal invoice if you check.

As for the yellow substance, that was the glue from the printing process. Some of the custom Sugary Carnival pieces got glues on the other side of the skirt part. I sent you an email checking whether it is okay, and if not, I could send it back to have it cleaned/remade and will pay for shipping back and forth, thou it would take quite a bit of time, as Dream of Lolita is very slow processing these issues. You mentioned that it'd be okay and you could fix it on your end upon arrival, so I arranged to have it sent out."

They just fucking FORGOT my headbow. I KNOW I paid for that shit too. Paypal only keeps invoices for like 3 months and this took longer than that. There was no way I could prove that I paid for it.

They claimed the glue was a small amount. When I received the skirt about 1/5 of the underside of the skirt was covered in a filthy black adhesive, and the outside of the skirt had mustard coloured droplets along the back.

Another fatgirl here. Honey. You don't need a shit replica skirt. You should have spent that money on a bra. Your nipples should not be at your waist. The money invested will make you look better in everything - your posture will improve as well.

Actually the site advertises a skirt with a blank white oval where the Angelic Pretty emblem is placed on the original.

I was promised a better quality then this.

Just because it's from China doesn't make it bad. Not everyone can afford brand, though I own some. I prefer to only wear brand to nice events and I don't like to post pictures of it on the internet because of the age old "omg that fatty-chan is stretching out my burando". But it's not your burando, it's mine.

You worry how you spend your money, and I'll worry how I spend mine.

Not everyone can afford 300 dollar dresses for urrday. I have real life things to pay for, like insurance and bills.

lol. Defensive much? Did I ever say anything about you not owning brand? I said that you bought a cheap crappy knock off (which you would have been expecting if you had done ANY research on DOL's quality before buying your knock off)
You bought a cheap knock off and you got a cheap knock off. You got exactly what you paid for.

I hate it when people who buy crap and then complain that it is crap. The Bodyline Carrousel skirt is cute, similar, cheap, and MUCH better made than DOL's crap. Get that instead. If/when Oo Jia comes out with a knock off hers will be better than DOL but still wildly disappointing.

Also, be careful about where you get fitted. Mall places advertise fitting, but are often super shitty about it.

I went to Cacique and while I love their bras, their fitting is dumb. I went in since I had lost some weight. Was in a 38 D Balconnette, thought I might need a smaller size.

The lady measured me and tried to tell me I needed to be in a 44DDD.

    I was...shocked and bewildered.

We pulled it out. Even holding it up to me it was obvious to both of us that there was no fucking way it was happening.

I ended up buying several very nice 40Ds in a different style since it was a bit tighter than my previous.

So yeah. Buyer beware and all that.

Sorry I don't have pictures, but I had a similar experience ordering this same dress. I ordered and paid for the OP, but received a JSK... But at the time I was just thinking, "Oh well, you get what you pay for."

The print itself on mine is really nice. I've compared it to the original, and the only real difference is that it doesn't contain the AP logos. The fabric is really stiff, but not as stiff as a Dear Celine replica dress I own. The fabric isn't lined on the inside, but it has a little tulle built in petti thing.

Mine also had the same derpy bow problems on the front. It looked like absolute shit at first so I just pulled it off and pinned it back on looking a bit better. If you know how to sew a derp-ass bow you'll be doing better off than me.

Wtf is wrong with you? You tried to use living in America as an excuse for not owning brand? You think not living at home and paying for bills is an excuse for anything? You fucking down grade your living situation if life is so damn tough. I live in a studio apartment the size of your bedroom to afford my closet full of brand. I know people have different priorities, but I'm not the one bitching about the things I sacrificed. The way your life is going, you will never own anything that isn't shit because you won't cut costs where they need to be cut.

    I said I owned brand.

What is reading comprehension? Clothing is one of the least important things in life. If you think medication for my blood condition is less important than a fluffly skirt you are retarded.

    >>5518550
That has been established. But thank you anyway for that observation. I'll write it down with all the other obvious things people say about me online.

Except I'm not telling you to cut down on the medication you buy so you can buy clothes, I'm telling you to cut what you can so everything you buy doesn't have to be shit. Live in a smaller house or apartment, stop buying Oreos and soda, just things like that. So when you go to buy things like clothes, you don't have to get shit products from China. Same for everything in life. Maybe afford a couch that my grandma didn't throw away. I see you have Febreeze, what smells? Pets? General laziness? Maybe if you knew how to clean up after yourself you wouldn't have to waste money on masking your smells. Or is it for the smell that comes from your fat folds?

This. I'm a plus size lolita who is fighting hard to lose the weight. Yeah, genetics, whatever, everyone in my family is fat. I go to the gym 4 times a week and eat proper food - I may never be skinny but at least I'll be healthy and not have diabetes. I won't buy replicas and I'm not so deluded to think that AP owes me anything - it's not their job to make clothes for fat americans. There are so many other options for me to look as good as I can while I lose the weight - brand and otherwise that why bother wasting money on some photocopied gluey nasty replica. All of my rage.

It was my first time buying a replica though. I mentioned this, right?

It's the smoke cancelling febreze. My sister was helping me move and she chainsmoked the entire time she was here.

I wish for this thread to die now because nothing productive happened. Sorry about messing up the board guys.

I feel like I would understand the "buy brand" mentality if AP was actually worth the price. Not saying the replicas are better but some AP is pure shit.

Depends on the consumer, I guess. I'm not a fan of AP, because I think are their Sugary Carnival-type stuff are pure crap.

    Here's a print I wouldn't mind paying for though.

I like these toned down prints best. I've also become more interested in their print-less dresses. They have nice details you don't always find in their prints.

Perhaps looking at actual replicas may be good.

I like lolita and the look of it and I've started to get a couple of brand dresses however I saw a replica in Camden, London, and I thought it was actually pretty good. When I compared it to the original, it wasn't bad for 30 quid and for just a pretty skirt which I knew is still quite expensive second hand I thought it couldn't hurt. Either way, here are a couple of photos. I think the difference is that I saw this replica in real life before I bought it rather than used blind faith and ordered from China.

As you can see there's some slight fading of the print near the top but that's easily covered with a waistcoat. Instead of a pathetic bow there was some waist ties, they weren't the best but still more functional than just a bow with a clip. The lace doesn't actually feel cheap and it's lined with a bit of netting sewed on top of the lining.

    >And they overprice. 80 dollars for a plastic ring. Seems legit.

I am really sick of noobs spreading that myth. AP rings cost always between 25 and 35 dollars. Yes, it's higher than crappy plastic rings that you buy on etsy cause they are brand, so you pay for the name, but also they are original designs and not a cheap default cabochon stuck on a ring. Also, if you go to buy a ring at Asos or Accessorize or Topshop, it will cost around 10-15 dollars and most of these are cheaply made in China for a buck or something. Just because something is made from plastic doesn't mean it should cost a penny. Most metals that are used by high street stores are cheap and shit and often easier to work with than acrylic.

It's really pathetic how brand haters like to constantly say the price is higher than it is. It just shows they have no idea what they're talking about and lose all credibility. We already know how much brand cost and that it's a little high, think inflating the cost is going to fool us and make you sound cool?
    >> Anonymous 02/21/12(Tue)05:03 No.5519710

I think it's cause most of them have 1. caught a glimpse of sellers overpricing stuff on the sales comm cause they are factoring in what it cost them in shipping + SS costs etc and 2. have never actually bought anything straight from a brand so they have no idea of the actual retail price.

Burando is mass produced. Etsy gives you the opportunity, if the seller is good, to own a unique piece.
